One of the top reviews that I agree the most with is that the biggest shame with this game is that you can only play it for the first time once. Oh my GOD do I recommend this game!
This game is so much deeper than it seems to be, and lets you scratch the surface tentatively until you're ready to learn more about it.

It's such an awesome, beautiful work of love. Thank you to those who worked on this, it's amazing.

Early Access Review
In the last two weeks alone, I've sunk almost 9 hours into this game. When I first bought RtR, I enjoyed the hell out of it, as I find I enjoy sandboxy, base building games. With that being said, let's get on with the review and general pros/cons.

Quick notice that with this,
I have not played with monsters on
My interactions with them have been minimal as at one point "full" sandbox did not exist and some monsters would come around.

    Pros
  • Fast response from dev when you post a bug to the site's forum,[risetoruins.com] mostly due to forums being fairly small and unknown (I assume this would also extend to other sections for the forums, i.e. in regards to changes suggested by fans

  • Very fun if you like to micromanage everything about your town

  • Constantly being updated, both occasional small bug fixes, and more things added in (Doggos!)

  • EA game which promises that there will be more added in

    Cons
  • I wish there was a cap I could set in regards to population.

  • Still in EA. I don't consider this a con for this game, but normally I would hesitate heavily for most EA games. This is one that restores my faith in good or well done EA games.

  • Game tends to stutter slightly and slow down a little with a small amount of people/buildings (100-200~ people tends to make it slow a bit). Maybe a really high end computer runs it better, I don't personally know.

  • People die. :( And then haunt you (I think)

Tl;Dr- Solid game, you will struggle, you will thrive, and you will probably crack when you've spent a lot of time on a family and one of the members dies off.

>Be me
>Make new family to see how far I can get
>Make everyone have Small Eater trait except Mama
>Give Mama Proactive trait
>Repeatedly send out only Mama to save on resources
>Everything's cool
>Get tier 3 ♥♥♥♥
>Make enough barrels for 120 water capacity
>Pour hours into the Cheney family
>44 days of surviving, everything's going well
>Just need one last Switch for final workbench upgrade
>Send out the mama
>Mama finds a wild animal
>Ohshit.jpg
>It's a bear.
>♥♥♥♥♥♥.png
>Try to escape 3x
>Mama ends up on her last bit of health
>Counters 2x
>Make mistake of thinking I can block bear claws
>Mama dies

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wanted to fling the table.
10/10 love to hate this game.

Truly a brilliant creation. I do not say game, because although it is considered a game, the interactivity and feel of To the Moon, is not as a game, but as a beautiful story. As with any story, it takes a chapter or two to get into it, but it does captivate and move you once you've succumbed to it.
The characters are elegantly crafted, with enough depth to keep the dialogues interesting, and the interactions between the two doctors add a touch of comedy so that the story is well-rounded, and can keep you light of heart and smiling at moments, providing short breaks before the story resumes.
I would highly recommend taking a chance on this game, and playing it. You will not regret it.
