Masterpiece. Definitely worth purchasing when on sale. Since this is a linear story you're unlikely to replay (unless on higher difficulties/achievement hunting) once you've understand the story.

QTE are shorter than Blind Forest which is a positive and combat is more engaging.

Did crash a few times on ultrawide 1440p but luckily auto-save always save the day.

Art style is fantastic, music is excellent.

Beautiful game. Play with headphones the audio is stunning. Bought it for $5.
No bugs encountered, no crashes.
Had no problems playing with a controller.
Once the sequel goes on sale I will definitely purchase it.
Native ultrawide support.
Runs at 60fps with a GTX 1060 6GB on my 21:9 1440p display.

Costume overall looks appealing.

She looks way better with the handler's mod installed.

It floats around you. That itself deserves the buy.

Just finished the adventure and will definitely play in creative mode to dabble with the world.
Certain biomes are splendid in their environment. Game supports ultrawide natively which is immersive.

Game may be a little challenging due to the lack of map and where you should go next. A lot of exploration will be needed. Read the PDA or watch some walkthrough if you are lost on what to do next.

Prawn suit on dry land is a little buggy especially at the Primary Containment Facility. Grappling Arm is compulsory if you cannot move your suit suddenly. Grapple to what is ahead of you or above you to prevent the 'stuck' motion.
Never got a soft or hard crash to desktop throughout my play.

Impressed with this game overall. Understand that the developers are working on the next game and I'm certainly excited once its officially released.

If the game does not launch and you have MSI Afterburner, close that.

That was how I got my game to launch, however constant crashes occurs in this game and the developers have abandoned this game long ago.

No updates in the foreseeable future means this problem can never be fixed.

If you have purchased this game, install and run it to ensure its playable, if not get a refund from Steam within the refund window so you don't waste money on it.

Don't get scammed into purchasing when its on sale!

Look for the NexusMods on removing unnecessary code that hogs the CPU. That mod dropped my CPU by ~15%.

Disconnect has been kept to a minimum. I can play for over 6 hours with no disconnect at all.

Clutch claw to tenderize mechanic should have always been 1 weapon attack NOT 2 but slinger burst to send monsters running towards another monster and have both fall over is highly satisfying.

Updating this review after the Alatreon update. With so many monsters release as free update (Rajang/Safijiva/Stygian Zinogre/Rajing Brachy/).

Iceborne has pretty much matched previous title monster count.

Guiding Lands annoyance was fixed by the developers. Being able to lock particular area level is extremely helpful. Able to exchange a particular monster lure in town gets rid of a lot of "mindless play and hope you get it"

Layered weapons and armour proves the developers are listening and I certainly hope future title does not use the strap on design anymore.

Yes power creep is a given. Simple reason why people are wearing the same loadout is because IT IS JUST BETTER. If an update drops a weaker monster, then what's the hype? Getting stronger in this game is the core of hunting.

Absolute must buy when it goes on sale.
Total playtime as of this review is >700 hours before the final Fatalis update drops in.
~800 hours is where I see myself truly quit the game.

Updated this review with 616 hours played including Iceborne.

This is the best game to welcome new players to this giant franchise.
Having played previous game like
  • Freedom Unite
  • Portable 3rd
  • 4 Ultimate
  • Generations Ultimate

This game is so much more accessible to newcomers. No more unnecessary and tedious gathering. Environments that are much more dynamic makes it a more immersive experience. Huge step up in game fidelity compared to predecessor.

PC load times are SO much faster compared to consoles and both controller and keyboard are supported so you can hunt in anyway you desire. Keyboard keys are remappable too.

Initial reviews were mixed as Capcom screwed up the online matchmaking during the launch week but it has since been fixed and everything is good. Mod support from Nexus Mods
makes the game even better than it already is, go and have a search and you will know what I mean. :P

Free monster content every 2~3 months is certainly a nice welcome.

TL;DR : Best Monster Hunter game Capcom has ever produced. This still stands with Iceborne expansion.

Personally feel that Capcom has outdone themselves and I am excited for the future of Monster Hunter.
