I absolutely adore AK's works — his writing, his distinct style. I was captivated by CS and found it absolutely mesmerizing. Now, BoH is enchanting and filled with his amazing style and writing... But the game itself has a few issues.

Most of the game involves waiting. This isn't just about waiting for timers but also waiting for days hoping for that somewhat random memory or event.
Another issue I have is that the game demands you to recall way too much. You find yourself reading and re-reading again and again the same books and items you already read and inspected multiple times because you simply can't remember which one you need.
Currency seems kinda wasted since (at least so far) there is no way to spend it other then hiring assistent. Would be nice maybe to be able to buy some new item like food or low level crappy ink to make the beginning less slow and the empty days less boring.

Another thing is that I really miss the sense of dread and mysterious impending doom from CS. I get it, BoH has a slower, more relaxed pace... but there is a castle to explore, so mysterious and promising, and yet the magic in the air feels a bit vague. I really wish there was more to it.

So right now at a week from release the game feels a tad unripe. But I remain hopeful. I trust Weather Factory to keep refining the game. I'll continue to support them, believing that they'll polish this game into the masterpiece it has the potential to be.
