This is a rough game. I wanna say it didnt age well, but it looks good still. I guess its mechanical interactions havent aged well?
Enemies hitting you off screen, being stunlocked for days, several seconds standing on the ground, only to get up and enemies hitting you frame-perfect and put you back on the ground, rinse and repeat...
My 1st playthrough was rough, dude, like really, really rough. I thought I was playing on some hardcore difficulty or something. I got to the last boss WITH 0 HEALS, AND I HAD THE HIDDEN CHESTS NECKLACE TOO, FOR EXTRA HEALS.
I dont know what happened, I just know the game is rough from the get go, on normal.
This game has 4 additional characters you can play as, to aid the main character in the story, and you must do a minimum of 4 playthroughs for the 100%. I ended up doing 6 playthroughs, because, besides my 1st blind one, I had missed a scenario in the story. That's right, each character has their own story, scenarios and interactions in the story and you gotta see them all. An uncovered scenario won't count as progress until you clear the game, meaning that I had to do a full 6th playthrough for a single 20 seconds cutscene. I dont really mind that as it was the 6th playthrough and I was speedrunning the game. A very speedrunner friendly game.

The other thing about Onimusha 2 is that it's a gifting sim. All those 4 characters I've hinted at before can be gifted stuff all across the game and you don't only have to know what to give them to get the best rewards, you also have to know WHEN. You thought that was it? Nah, it wasnt; on top of that your 4 allies can give trash items from the reward pool, so you have to reload until the RNG aligns and you get what's needed. That means that this game is impossible to 100% without following a guide, which is as sick as FFX-2.

The last boss is a stunlocking fest. If he hits you with magic he will keep stunlocking you at frame-perfect precision until you die. You can't heal while laying on the ground, only when standing on your own 2 feet.
Also, the most infuriating fight is the gimmick last fight after the final boss. Bro, this one was retarded. There's no way you need to have a final-final boss which is so resilient and stupid. It's so stupid that the game offers you to lower the difficulty (I think this is the only time it asks you this, at least from my experience). The devs knew it's retarded, THEN MAKE IT KILLABLE IN LESS HITS, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

I think this is a 5 or 6 outta 10 game. Is dreadful on your 1st playthrough and gets better the more you play it. Onimusha 1 somehow did it better. Critical hits require more skill as well. Every enemy in the game has its own way of getting critted, meaning that you need to learn them all if you wanna learn how to crit. Every weapon has its own attack animation (speed), and depending from the weapon you like more/most, you need do adapt to its animation and the enemy animation to land a crit. Is pretty hardcore, but dont dwell too much on it, this is only valid for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like me who love to 100% every game they play.

Lastly, I'd like to mention that this game should definitely get a thumbs down from me, but here I am giving it a thumbs up (I think i shouldnt) because, on top of all the aforementioned, Capcom released this ♥♥♥♥ with censorship. Yup, and if you look up what was censored you will get an overwhelming feeling of playing Russian roulette. The censorship is so retarded and unneeded that it doesnt make sense, but here we are boys, corpos hardly working overtime to erase femininity so 0.01% of US/EU population can feel safe. Yeah, I'm talking about girls with a ♥♥♥♥.

Here we are again. Another year, another trails, only that this time we're going back to where it all begins: the very 1st Trails...remade.
This remake is pretty well done and faithful to the OG, but is not without its blemishes.
Let's begin with what bothers me the most when something is remade: censorship, proof reading for the modern audience and 'cultural insensitivities'.
Unfortunately there's censorship in this game, compared to the OG. ALL the dialogue lines poking fun at Estelle for being a tomboy, or her being teased that she's not the type for wearing dresses, or anything that has to do with her femininity is gone. I can't be the only one that finds this creepy, insidious, sick and deeply disturbing, right?
Other than that, the dialogue follows the OG Japanese script and you'll be disappointed right from the 1st cutscene, since one of the most iconic lines in videogames is gone. Honestly, they could've left the "Why is my present a boy" line there and follow the Japanese script for the rest. These mfkers have no soul or no understanding of what the fandom really wants. More like GungHoe, amirite?
There's a patch in the works that replaces the new dialogue with XSEEDs.

The combat is too modernized, and is clear that it was done this way to retain the ♥♥♥♥♥♥'s attention span. You have too many extra actions when critting, too many procs for stats up and CP, too many ways to just mitigate the game's difficulty even on nightmare. Speaking of CP procs, you can S craft with Joshua and immediately get 100 or more CP back. This is wrong, this is retarded, this is not how it should be, considering the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ with S break spam from Daybreak. Stat ups in combat are barely noticeable and literally irrelevant in NG+.

Falcom seems to have lost its way, The more of these games they keep pumping out, the clearer it is to me that their original vision no longer exists. You make me feel like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ when playing this game, because EVERYTHING IS MARKED ON THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ MAP. At least do us a favor and eliminate that option when playing on nightmare, since it'd be implied that long term fans of the series play on the hardest difficulty of the game and they know what they're getting themselves into.
Literal quest design, envisioned in the OG, are meaningless here because you can find everything on the map immediately. You're asked to look for something or investigate, but you already know where to go because is marked. This is a very, very big issue that must be resolved. You can clearly see the cracks in the matrix, because you got the OG quest design and the modern 'quality of life' which mitigate one another. I've given this feedback on the other games too, when I reviewed them. This goes against the own intention of the developers, is a paradox that must be eliminated.

NG+ is untested, enemies get a free 7-8k hit on you on counterattacks (WHICH CANT BE BLOCKED NOR ANYTHING CAN BE DONE TO AVOID BEING HIT BY ONE OF THESE). You thought counterattacks are annoying on NG Nightmare? Wait and how it feels in NG+ Nightmare. You shouldnt even lose your time playing NG+ on nightmare, because is retarded. Enemies go into rage mode and hit you for 12-14k on counterattacks. Is untested forreal. Too bad since I played Abyss mode in Reverie and finished it.

Is a cool throwback for long running fans, and a good way to bring new fans to the series, but, as you can see, as a long fan of this series, the modernization of it doesnt quite bode well with me. If they would eliminate markers on the map, that would make such a huge difference...

If you're not a finicky ♥♥♥♥♥♥, I recommend you play the OG instead.

So this was Mafia 2, uh? Been a long time coming for me to play this game and I finally did.
Friends been telling me to play it and I always put it on the back burner and here we are.
First of all, there's technical issues with this game (because of course there must be). There's microstuttering happening after hours of playing the game, due to memory leaks probably. Otherwise is fine from that pov.
The shining part of this game is definitely the story and its characters. Vito is the GOAT, I prefer him over Tommy. The side characters are also much better. Joe is such a good character as well.
I prefer Vito to Tommy because I identify myself more with Vito. He's truly a man of honor, focused on the mission, failure being inadmissible. He's not a person of too many words, but he's charming nonetheless when he opens up and never takes himself too seriously, even in drastic situations.
Never had I thought when starting to play this game that I'd get to play a WW2 mission or some prison chapters. All were great additions that help keeping up the pace of the game.
While driving around town you can hear about updates on WW2 on the radio, and they mention some historical events as well, together with some famous names like Hitler, Churchill, Nixon and others. I appreciated that part.
Dialogue is also accurate with the times. I can finally play a game where people are racist af. I'm tired of these proof reading Karens watering scripts down so someone, somewhere doesnt hurt their feelings.
Police in this game is the most cancerous from any game I've ever played that has police in it. It's ridiculous, they are on your ass immediately for speeding and they are relentless.
Overall is a good game: great characters, great story, gameplay is the same as in 1 with more weapons.

There's a disclaimer when you start this game. In case these stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ from Hangar 13 dont know it, they are the same ones who developed the game in 2010. They have the gull to warn you that the game includes 'culturally sensitive content and themes' and that the game presents its narrative content in its ORIGINAL FORM. Ohh, how you'd have wished to change so much about it, just to fit it in with the modern political environment (which was a failure all along btw), political correctness and women-brain proof reading. You're a bunch of stupid mfkers for spitting on your own grave and disrespecting the artistic work you yourselves have created. ♥♥♥♥ you for treating us like children and thinking we're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who can't make informed decisions on our own, and that you believe that we need to be cuddled and protected from words on a screen. You're pathetic.

Having said that, let's talk about the DLCs, because I need to talk about this.
If you're not a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ like me who likes to see a 100% badge on every game he plays AVOID THE DLCs AT ALL COSTS. These are the worst DLCs I've ever played in my life from any game ever. Joe's Adventures has some main story missions with some lore, but if you're that curious just watch them on youtube, trust me.
Jimmy's Vendetta is where the smell of ♥♥♥♥ really comes from. A DLC put together by scraping the bottom of the barrel of unused content, padded by meaningless arcade missions and retarded achievements. Where is it? Where's the stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥ who asked of its players to drive 1000 miles? I want to meet you and hold your meaningless head between my hands, Gordon Ramsay style, and let you know that you're a bona fide ♥♥♥♥♥♥. One of a kind ♥♥♥♥♥♥ in this world. By the end of the DLC I had 77miles. Do you see that playtime? I finished most of everything at the 43-47 hours mark. The rest is just time I was AFK, overnight, glitching the game by driving a car through a specific window in town. After several days of doing this, one day I left the game opened for 12h and when I came back I saw I only had just +35miles. This pissed me the ♥♥♥♥ off, so I got the genius idea of searching for a save online and fortunately enough I was able to find one. If you're going for that 100% badge, just download the save and do the 1000 miles that way.
They probably thought they were doing something by adding all these achievements to pad the game. They thought they were killing it GTA style.

I don't know what to give this game: positive or negative. In a gesture of good faith I'll give it a positive rating this time, although there's enough bad things about it.
Let's start with the technical issues.
This game has post processing issues, as black areas on your screen are populated by tiny red dots, hundreds/thousands of them whenever there's pitch black on the screen. The whole thing gives you the illusion of a cell shaded game, but is a technical issue and it looks awful. I tried disabling post processing (from the ini file, mind you, because you don't have a toggle option in the game's settings) but then there's no more pitch black in the game, and that's what brings a huge plus to the atmosphere of the game. Later on, when the rats appeared, I was forced to turn it on again because the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ things looked like a giant smudge on my screen, glitching everything up, so you can't really deactivate post-processing if you want to play the game. One solution I found that can help is decreasing the brightness, but that made my screen almost full black in certain areas. There's no win here, you pick what looks better to you. This is the main reason why I was conflicted which rating to give this game.

The other crucial issue I had with this game is that there's no significant improvement compared to the 1st. Is gonna play like Innocence, the additions to gameplay arent doing it for me. I wished they did more with it, as this game is clearly much more ambitious than the first one. They succeeded in telling the bigger story. They succeeded in giving the sequel a better atmosphere, but they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up in giving you more gameplay options and gimmicks.

Sometimes the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rats glitch out and eat you even in seemingly safe areas. It happened several times.

You can tell some of the characters demeanor in certain parts of the game are straight outta modern California and this game is set in ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 1342. IF SOMEONE WANTS TO KILL YOU, YOU KILL THEM IMMEDIATELY WITHOUT FEELING SORRY FOR THEM OR CONTEMPLATING HOW THAT WAS A BAD THING. You must stop this mental wanking before you start feeling sorry for Epstein. Stop it.

There's a prequel in the works and I may end up playing it, but if it plays the same as the previous 2 games, I'm just gonna give it a negative review. I think this studio is done experimenting, and they need to innovate on gameplay and give you more combat options.

The game is one of the best looking games I've ever played and has really good scenery. You stop a lot to admire and digest the vistas. They also succeeded with the atmosphere of the game, really cool.

This game is plagued with technical issues and bugs:
- Game launches to a black screen, you need to launch it multiple times until it works
- CANT SWITCH TO FULLSCREEN, IT FREEZES THE GAME. YOU MUST DISABLE VSYNC FOR THE SWITCH TO FULLSCREEN TO WORK. I had so many issues with this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥. Also, the game doesnt have borderless window mode. Is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ remake from the 2020s bro, what are you doing?
- Audio completely disappears in some cutscenes
- One time in free roam I couldnt steal cars anymore after crashing vehicles
- Cutscenes dont play, characters stay in a T pose when replaying a chapter. You can't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ replay chapters and see the cutscenes again for your entertainment, is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crazy
So why am I recommending this game?
Story is great, grassroots mafioso style. Although it ends pretty abruptly, is still a good story, and interesting characters.
The gameplay is a bit clunky, but clunky enough to make it believable and not annoying.
Playing on Classic mode, that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ race in mission 5 took me 3-4h to beat and essentially taught me how to drive, because on Classic mode the driving is set on "simulation" mode and can't be altered. Is fun to drive around the city when you get the hang of it.

Is aight, but that's because is just 8 bucks.
They're using the Elden Ring DLC mechanic here as well, with pools of power upping your attack power and lowering the damage you take (Although you dont notice ♥♥♥♥ when playing on the hardest difficulty).
Here we go again, playing on the hardest setting this game is an untested mess. Bloated enemy HP pools, even from trash mobs, Act-twice or act-thrice, retarded mechanics from what already is a retardedly hard game. You win on a razor thin edge everytime you fight a boss, is ridiculous, and that's because the enemy didnt use the right attack to wipe you. Essentially what I wrote on my review of the main game still stands strong. Most people playing this on easy or normal where you can facetank everything.

As someone who hasn't played this game in 2 years, the DLC throws you right into the action and starts dropping names and ♥♥♥♥, which go over my head because I can't remember anything. You'll soon put pieces back together though and you'll be introduced to a new character which you'd be stupid not to use. He deals absurd amounts of dmg by stacking stacks on enemies.

This was a game. This was actually a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game, and what a great one at that.
Definitely the hardest game to 100% both in terms of difficulty and length.
Had I had to choose 10 games to take with me after I died, to play forever, this one would be one of those 10 games.

If you made it all the way to Daybreak 2, then I hope you realized too that this game is a 10/10.
This is peak Kiseki. The sound of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is still reverberating in my ear whether I should or shouldnt play this game.
Can't believe plenty of the so called "Kiseki fans" actually entertained the idea that I could skip this game and go to Cold Steel.
Culture is shifting. This is the blueprint Kiseki needs to follow to become great again.
