This is the best Monster Hunter experience to date. With love, as a hunting horn only main, the meat of the gameplay is smoother, more satisfying and more in depth than in any previous title. Detractors:
- The story was good on paper, but poorly handled. Low rank, the first 10 or so hours of hunts, are both extremely easy for a veteran and on rails. More times than I can count, I wanted to just explore and gather materials, but I was forced to follow the story characters at a glacial pace. Hunt a monster for 5 minutes, then spend 20 minutes handholding an npc. The latter time you are unable to see your co-op friends, which turned my partner away as a new player. You can now skip the cutscenes in Wilds, but it was good enough for me as a veteran to want to watch, but difficult for someone new who was not invested. Once you hit high rank the game opens up massively, and this is how it should've been from the start.
- Optimization is horrible. Game runs at 60 with frequent drops on my pc and looks like a DLSS pudding. Try harder, Capcom
- Minor issues with the optimal endgame activities. Number one on the list is exploiting time manipulation to get a flower that only blooms on full moons. Number two is the same monster over and over. Other things are available but not nearly as rewarding and it is still okay if you don't care about rewards. This will probably be remedied in the obligatory upcoming expansion but this will also be a full price deal.

It was hard to find this game in the first place. I'm glad I did. More people should talk about this one. It's good.

40K is an awesome setting, purging heretics with your friends is awesome, and fatshark gameplay loop is awesome. This is peak horde shooter built upon the shoulders of L4D and Vermintide and eclipsing them both.

You know the deal: you move in a 4 player group through maps where the Director throws all manner of walkers, gunners, disablers, heavy armor guys and bosses at you. Darktide's iteration on the formula is solid, with equal parts melee and ranged combat and a skill ceiling higher than the moon which will keep you driven to continue playing at getting better.

Audio design is notable, from the music to the sound of your weapons to the audio cues of each specialist enemy denoting their appearance. You will enter a brain-state where you will not be able to stop the tetris effect of the mutants screaming as they charge at you and a ticking bomb around the corner and the funny poxflamer shouting "I AM READY!"

Hopping in this late is a good idea. Gear was patched so it is relatively trivial to acquire the maxed stats and blessings you desire. There's good depth to the buildcraft and always more to improve on your mechanical skill. Playing and getting better at Darktide makes you better at games in general.

Go into this one with no spoilers. A very satisfying experience and nice accessibility options if you're only into the puzzles and not the combat. I recommend using a pen and paper to help note things down. If you're confused, just read the manual!

This game is best going in blind. This phrase is used when the game is good and has parts to it that need to be experienced for yourself. I recommend you do so. Don't even watch the trailers like I didn't, this will heighten the feeling even more, just full send baby.

Best level based horde game in the veins of L4D. Shame I hadn't gotten into it sooner. The banter between the characters is excellent despite me not caring about Warhammer fantasy. Combat has a depth in execution and build variety and a satisfying feel. The rising difficulties teach you to be a better player.Unfortunately lots of non-cosmetic DLC holding back levels, character careers and optimal weapons, which I would say is the only downside to this game.

Early Access Review
It's the addicting part of city builders where you set up, and just after you have everything stable and get bored, you move on to the next settlement. You have to be adaptable with the resources you find and the building blueprints on offer. You also won't always be able to set up the clean production lines you want. These restrictions might seem bad, but it keeps you thinking of ways to work around your situation and keeping your villagers housed, fed and happy.

Frequent updates, actually sticking to the roadmap and community input is taken into account. Highly recommend.
