Updated Review: Dead game. Had plenty of potential. Should've been F2P, may be the only chance it has at a revival. Do not purchase unless you just wanna waste $30.

Don't buy it. It was pretty fun for a short while, but has too many shortcomings. I'd be willing to give it another go if there was a massive update, however, I don't feel like the currently planned updates will do much towards making this game worth its price tag.

Early Access Review
Tons of fun, it's like Minecraft meets Sea of Thieves minus PvP. Story is fun, though short since it's early access. If you like survival and building then this is worth the money.

I began playing Destiny shortly after the release of D1. My friend let me play it with his copy since I couldn't afford to buy it for myself. Well after a couple days of not being able to pull myself away from it, he shows up with a copy he bought so we could play together. I did eventually lose interest, not because of the game itself, just other things taking my time.

Then they announced D2, not only that, but that it would be on PC. I wasn't in a great place financially, and that same friend bought two copies of the special edition for the xbone. Not too much later I built a PC, and then migrated my account. Between the xbone and the PC I usually logged about 5-8 hours a day, more on the weekends. Things happened and I stopped playing for a couple months.

Now, forgive the story-behind-the-recipe format that this review starts with. I say all that to say I struggled between this game being something I'd recommend. I love it, so much so that I've spent ~1000 hours of my life playing since mid-January 2020. On the other hand, I don't think new players will have the same experience. When I loaded up Destiny for the first time and Dinklebot woke me up in the Cosmodrome, I was hooked. The Destiny universe had me hooked. The gameplay is fun. The lore is fascinating. It just won't be the same anymore for someone who's just meeting their ghost, especially once the content vault is in play. I understand old content must be sacrificed for new content to prevent bloating, but that really blows.

My concept of a perfect version of the Destiny universe is one where D1 and D2 would be one giant game, full crossplay, the stories combined, all content available including seasonal activities(sundial, bunkers, etc.) even if it rotated once a week.

In conclusion, try it out. It's free. If you hate it you're only out the time you spent downloading and playing, If you don't hate it.. then.. Welcome to the family, Guardian.

Early Access Review
It's early access so there's some bugs, but it's still really fun. Actively udated so they aren't a huge issue. They've just released a new map, but I'm selfish and want more. There needs to be a search filter for the available rooms, or at least better filtration system, as weall as the option to join game through the steam client.
