I have just come to find out why the meta "game inside of a game" concept has never been attempted. After beating the first act it felt as if I were being drug through a narrative I no longer cared about by a collar tightly forced around my neck, desperately hoping it would revert to the intuitive (and fleeting) gameplay I had come to enjoy.

TL;DR: You often don't know what you have until you've lost it. I just want to play with Leshy lol.

If the game wasn't worth $4.79 then it would not be on sale at 92% off for $4.79 regularly.
It cannot hold a candle to previous battlefield titles. The entire experience feels like a gimmicky demo more so than a full fledged Battlefield title, and its identity crisis has left the game more or less abandoned.
Weapon selection is severely limited. You are also forced to pick from a selection of operators for each class, which, in turn, means you are fighting a bunch of forced, weird looking & out of place diversity inclusion clones whose only purpose is to be identifiable instead of the generic, regular looking soldiers whom were naturally and easily identifiable by their classes in previous games. They were an excellent example of talented character design as opposed to this goyslop. I could excuse it, but the gameplay is also incredibly unrewarding. Micro-transactions were added for things you would've unlocked naturally in previous titles, which encouraged you work for mastery on certain weapons and classes due to the reward boxes it would give you to obtain things slowly over time.

If there's one good thing that comes out of the game being so unloved, it's that the PC playerbase has largely moved onto other shooter titles. AI and cross-platform play was added out of pure necessity, which means it's relatively easy to dominate the scoreboard considering 90% of the players you will run into will be playing on sticks on Xbox & Playstation due to their lacking libraries, I would assume. If shooting fish in a barrel is your thing, then this might be the game for you.

Regardless, it probably would've been great if DICE just focused on one thing instead of a half baked amalgamation of garbage instead. For $5, I got my money's worth, but that doesn't mean I'll recommend this to anybody.
Hopefully they learn their lesson. If you deviate from your successful formula, your product is going to be dead and forgotten about in two years time.

- begin your adventure half starving
- run in a straight line for 45 minutes looking for your friend or other players
- loot empty cookie cutter buildings in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and depressing industrial eastern european landscape
- light a fire and lie prone in the darkness, eating an entire chicken breast while waiting for the night to pass, only to end up starving before dawn.
this ♥♥♥♥ is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful, even mods only turn the game from frustrating to barely palatable. it doesn't even feel difficult in a rewarding or fulfilling way, it's simply bad game design. enjoy starving twenty minutes.

I believe this is one of the best games I have ever played. It's certainly a top contender.
This is also a great game to sit down and play with your family.

this is not something I am going to want to play more than once.
anomaly completely hijacks your game - it plays like more of a mod than an entire DLC.
this dlc is also responsible for introducing the most difficult and aggravating / micromanagement heavy enemies and events to ever grace the game, so much so, that around 30% of the new threats borderline on something that feels more akin to bad game design than anything else.
going to have to tell my friends to give this one a wide berth; anomaly took a risk and it missed the mark for me.

the game is good, and the character customization is excellent which is typically my nitpick.
