Generation Zero... First off, the game should be on steam as early access, it has been released in an incomplete state.
It is currently not worth what the devs are asking you to pay for.

That being said, ive played 91 hours so far and enjoyed it immensely. despite its broken ass condition it still hits my happy place.

SO whats wrong with it?

Map is incomplete and rushed, much of the terrain has placement issues which not only looks bad but sometimes means you can get stuck or be unable to reach shiny loot.

Missions are prone to glitching. Mission system is badly designed, mission objectives can be easily done out of order which breaks them. you can grab an objective from the middle of a mission without getting the first part which means it won't show up in your mission list and when you finally get part 1 it won't let you get the one you already got. its sooo broken.

Inventory is badly designed, it will not auto stack items in your quick slots which means you always need a free inventory space when picking up medkits.
Ammunition comes in large stack sizes, the entire stack is linked to the gun it is loaded into and vanishes when eqipped. when picking up more of the same ammo type it puts it in a new stack which means to merge your ammo piles you have to remove the ammo from the gun, merge the pile and then re add it to the gun.
Its complicated and broken, you often find you have no room in your inventory. but with a bunch of merging and shuffling stuff your inventory can clean up hugely. this is not handled automatically like most games. and it sucks. its really badly designed.

Enemies occaisionally lock up and stop attacking you for no reason or engage from extreme ranges, sometimes your detection stealth indicator gets stuck on pointing at the nearest enemy.

Its just extremely broken for a game charging the ammount of money the are asking.
the fights are fun and combat is good, game even looks great. but wait for a sale.

This game is really really fun, in an odd highly addictive and not entirely healthy way.

The game is about factories, you build, design and impliment various ideas which evolve over time and eventually become massive interconnnected networked factories that harvest resources, construct machines, reserch new technologies and defend your assets from the local wildlife.

The game looks very complicated on the surface, but is in fact a very simple game about problem solving, you build factories, those factories need resources, you send those factories the right resources, the game is about getting those resources to the right places and doing it all so you don't have to dirty your own precious hands with touching those filty resources, BLECH coal? pfft thats what robots are for, not my precious white collar hands!

So as you progress beyond the base game of just getting stuff out of the ground and refined, you find yourself needing to build things out of your base resources, this is generally to save yourself time from building them yourselves and for producing science packs to reserch more useful things to build.
To do this effectively, you have to manage lots of different resources, manufactured products and power. so you design systems and connect them together. gradually you get better at it and your systems need less and less imput from you to keep functioning.

By the end your basically should be able to prettymuch sit back with an unbrella and deckchair, sipping mojhitos. if it werent for those cursed aliens dirtying up your pristine new world!

Now the aim of the game is prettymuch to launch satelites into orbit, which takes AGES and lots and lots of work, but in freemode you could prettymuch just build a world encompasing factory if you really wanted to ecept that like minecraft, the world has no edges!

Multiplayer?
yep, it is indeed multiplayer, currently as of its most recent build 12.somethingorother it has multiplayer co-op, apparently hundreds of players can play simultaneously on one map building factories, now bear in mind it is CO-OP so your working together and can do things to eachothers stuff, no permissions or anything like that, you can build seperate and share resources using trains and powerlines, that kind of thing if you like. or work directly with eachother in the same area.
fight the aliens as a group in tanks. ect. its fun!
although you can't really "lose" in multiplayer as anyone who dies respawns, but the aliens can certainly wreck your stuff.

Its a fun and addictive game, ive spent some hours working out how to elegantly create uncloggable factories to build my shiny things, and likely if you buy it you will do the same!

TLDR?
its a good game, its about building factories, its about fighting off alien hordes, its about problem solving and design.
do I like it? yep, its highly addictive and has multiplayer so you can play with lots and lots of your friends.

Fun, great graphics, good car mechanics and driving.
but the story is pretty meh, the game is more an open world game of territorial control. you just take out enemy camps and kill enemy convoys, nothing particularly interesting, very little going on character development wise.

Theres a bit of expansion on the mad max universe thats not really mentioned anywhere else and it puts the fury road movie into a kind of context i guess,
but yeah, fun but it lost me in the middle as I got sick of grinding through hoards of endless clones, the ai all look prettymuch the same, have the same voice actors ect.
Sure theres factions but... i think we all know, they all behave the same way generally.

so yeah, found myself losing interest after grinding through way too many enemy encampments, even with the upgrades and rpg elements that reward the grind, in the end, it was far to heavy on the grind.

Good game if you like open world conquest type games where the enemy cant take territory off you.
fun to drive, shoot and fight. but lacking in story.

If you have not tried this game out, then do so. It was way ahead of its time long ago when it was first released.
and is still considered by many people in the gaming industry as one of the best games ever made,
it is the first FPS RPG i belive.
In addition, the thing IS CO-OP, although its glitchy and you can get into odd situations playing it in co-op. its still a great game.
the graphics don't really stand up over time, but it still has a great atmospheric feel to it and the scope and size of the levels is huge for games from that period.
you could even class the game as open world due to being able to backtrack and travel through much of the ship, its indeed almost a roguelike because of respawning enemies.

Play a game from long ago thats still fantastic. I'd definately reccomend this to anyone after a good Fps RPG from the DAWWWNN OF TIIIMEEE

I don't know why I liked this game, I did every possible storyline in the game, even the tiny hidden ones and ones you can only find through playing through things in certain orders.
the writing was funny and the places the game takes you are unexpected and interesting.
the humor is nice and it really takes you on a journey into the way stories are told in games.

Enjoyable. most people seem to only do like 3-4 different paths and miss out on the truely awesome ones, if you do get it, try as many paths as you can find there are some really cool ones.

I obviously need to play this game more, because it just seemed so cliche'd while attempting to play through it. the story was fairly unbelivable and uninteresting.
shooting mechanics were ok but. honestly found it pretty boring.

This game is an oddly satisfying arcade game like guitar hero, you pick up streams of objects for points, occasionally those objects are bonuses and change the behaviour of your pickup paddle thing.

The game is built around music so it kind of gets all rythmic and hypnotic as you go, you wil find yourself nodding your head to the beats as you try to get through the game.

its a fun casual game,

I do not know why I don't like Elite dangerous, Its certainly a well made game, sure getting into it is a little annoying.
manual docking annoys me but its less boring than auto docking everywhere and theres ways to do it automatically anyway.

So. why do I find it boring? essentially the game suffers the same problems of many open world games, like eve online for example.

Your character is your ship, you are a ship and you do things, you have always been a ship and always will be a ship. you are generally expected to already know how to play the game.

Essentially, theres no backstory, no flight school, no learning to be a pilot, as far as you are aware, you could have been knocked out in a bar brawl, climbed back into your ship on a station somewhere, blacked out and then woken up with no memory on how to do anything!

I guess, thats what turns me off this game, they take a very arcade attitude to game introduction, the tutorials are weak too.

Still, my hunger for story and a little bit of character introduction love does not make the game bad, technically theres nothing wrong with it, but don't go in expecting story, background or anything more than the most two dimensional of worlds.

The flying aspects to the game are great, the shooting, satisfying, the missions... depends what type you play but some are tediously similar to eve online space trucking.

I actually had the chance to try the game with my occulus rift which was pretty amazing and its addoption of VR will make the game much more interesting for those of you who want a space shooter with VR capability.
So if you want story and depth, get somethign else. if you want action, dogfighting and space trucking buy it!
