Long time MHW fan. Online issues are a bit of a drag, but haven't stopped me from pumping more hours into this game than I've worked in the last two weeks. A couple of tips to help your enjoyment.

Don't bother with matchmade lobbies until they're fixed. They're mostly pointless anyway. Create a lobby and search for SOS flares when you want to play with randoms.

If you're playing with friends, create a lobby, don't bother making it private unless you want to restrict a friend from joining. If you search for a lobby and there's none to be seen, someone will need to make a new lobby to join. If someone is having difficulty joining a quest, just drop the quest and re-take it. This can result in some resources being lost, like a use of an investigation or a voucher, but by the time that's a factor, you'll need to take that into account.

Vouchers double the money you get from a quest, do them in single player early on, later on they aren't as important as you can use the bandit mantle to generate more money faster with the right weapons.

Lastly, if you're going to play with KB+M, expect some weirdness, you're likely going to need to rebind controls, especially if you play shooters or anything else. I highly recomment steam controller or another controller if you have it.

If you like Monster Hunter and don't have it on another platform, this game is a mustbuy. If you haven't played Monster Hunter but are interested in the series, this game is a fanstastic jump on point.

If you plan to play this game multiplayer, keep in mind that certain aspects of the story quest lock other players out. Like players not able to join prior to seeing a cutscene, players not able to join until they have completed said quest. It's a lot of frustration if you go into it blind. Just keep in mind you're going to have to play alone(or with randoms or a friend that's ahead). Once you hit high rank, the quests require you see the cutscene, but you can then abandon and join your friends and progress together, it's a bit of a work around, but it's acceptable for an otherwise solid game.

I have difficulty not recommending a game that I've put 86 hours into and expect to be in my top 5 most played games in a year.
