Yume Nikki was completed on June 26, 2004. That was 20 years ago, longer than some of us are alive. I don't have to say that it has changed online culture and lead to the creation of whole games, genres and if you are like me, it has been a pleasant and irreplaceable childhood memory of a time where things were different.
It is such a wonderful thing and a testament to it's uniqueness that so many people still remember and flock to games like OFF, Ib or Yume Nikki. I am proud that someone created such works of art that cannot be replaced by something that the currently far larger market creates.
I am also sure that without the people that looked up to the stars and saw the same dream I saw, there wouldn't be the land we stand on, the smiles we carry or the dreams we lead into the future. What a wonderful community.
If you feel like me or don't, how about listening to a bit of Hylics OST, pour youself a cup of tea and starting one of the two Yume Nikki and replaying the game to calm down? Just saying, great experience.
