More than five months have passed since I entrusted the management of the league to the competitive community. The provisional management elected by an assembly of competitive clans has failed to organize the transition to a new organisational structure, let alone a new season. Not even a follow-up meeting was held. The competitive community at large has not shown much interest in any competitive events and many clans turned mostly inactive. Other attempts to establish a alternative leagues have not materialized either. So it's safe to say that not much will happen if we let this continue.

However, decisions need to be made regarding the continued hosting of the VL website. I have therefore relieved all the league and event managers of their positions again. In the near future I will decide if and how the VL will continue to exist. To that end I have also started to discuss matters with Leo of Blackmill Games. I will make further announcements once I have a better idea where we are heading. But if the Verdun League will continue to exist, it is more than likely that it will be in a different form. Until then I hope you all will continue to play the game.

With me stepping down as League Manager a league meeting was held on August 7th to determine the future of the VL. As no definitive decisions have been made yet it was decided to appoint Warbringer and KoRv as Provisional League Managers for the time being. They will handle the change management and hopefully safeguard a smooth transition. I will support them to the best of my abilities and I wish them both the best of luck!

Last night all the remaining teams in the tournament came together to determine the maps for the semifinals tomorrow. To our surprise Vosges and Artois will be played in both the EU and NA matches. They will features various guests from the Verdun community, among them the developers and captains of participating teams. And the North-American quarterfinals are concluded as well. The big favourites in those matches all won their games in the end but there were still a few surprises as far as the results go. While CT achieved a commanding 6-0 victory against the 1st MEF, necomer SPA653 at least turned a head or two when they took two trenches from the Pirates. In the end they lost them all though and the Pirates won 8-2. Also KK really struggled against yet another newcomer, the Gremlins Gang. With only seven players on Vosges for most of the first round KK could only achieve an action-packed draw in the first half. But KK came out on top in the second round for a combined score of 4-3. Most of us probably expected a tighter match between 1e and the joint team of IC & LV. But 1E won both rounds clearly with a combined score of 7-1.
