Beta testing: Feedback
Level difficulty
The difficulty curve has settled down in the first half of the game, but in the second half I need some feedback about level difficulty. Were some levels too hard? Did you find any solutions you suspect may be "unintended"? Should any levels be cut from the game? Were there any game mechanics which you thought needed more levels?

Level editor
This is one of the major selling points of the game but very few people have tried it apart from me. It doesn't have any documentation yet, but I could perhaps make a youtube video explaining it if necessary. It would be useful for a few people to at least try to make some basic levels in it and see how easy it is to pick up the editor.

Tricone lab online
This is the feature which allows players to upload their custom levels and download and play other players' levels. There is also a system for "approved" and "recommended" levels, as well as level playing stats. Again I think this is a major selling point but has not been used yet.

Steam features
These are new, so may have some teething problems
  1. Gaining a key should give you a Steam achievement
  2. The game should auto-save to the cloud allowing you to pick up where you left off on another machine with Steam installed.

More Steam achievements?
The game currently does nothing when you have completed various milestones. Should I add further achievements, for example:
  • You have completed 25 / 50 / 75 / 100 standard levels
  • You collected all 8 "mechanics" keys.
  • You got a custom map approved.
  • You got a custom map recommended.

Help system
There are in-game descriptions of the different game elements but I am thinking about replacing these with a game wiki. What do you think?

Beta testing: Known issues
  • On a map screen, when a new level is supposed to pop open, sometimes the level node "bursts" and all level nodes on the map appear to shrink. If this happens, the workaround is to click the "reset" button on the map screen. It will then ask you whether to reset all levels, in which case click "no".
  • Occasionally, the map screen hangs. In this case, just kill the game and restart.
  • Sometimes the frame rate stutters down to a very low level. I've found this is normally because the processor is overheating and has switched to a lower speed. Ensure your fan is working and/or your airconditioning is on!
  • Very occasional framebuffer exceptions. Crashes the game. Just restart.
  • Very occasional NullPointerExceptions (message "null"). Crashes the game. Just restart.
  • On some of the GUI dialogs, TAB / Shift-TAB, for tabbing through different input fields, sometimes get reversed.
  • Some of the GUI dialogs update a bit slowly.
