ARK: Windows to Linux Server

At the moment we are setting up a Linux server to move to, because let's face it: Windows sucks. The experience will be vastly improved and should therefore attract the lot of you, yet we will leave the old server running indefinitely for the ultra-conservatives and stragglers. :D

We shall call them:

New Linux Server: The Nightbirds
Old Windows Server: The Nightbirds +1 Year

UPDATE: This is complete, both servers are now running in tandem on different machines.

UPDATE2: In finality, we have setup a monster physical Linux server with 32 GB of RAM to provide the best possible experience overall. There will be no wipe for this, and you'll likely only notice the IP has changed again and the experience is smoother than ever. :)

ARK: Server Updates

Guys the ARK server is on a daily auto-update schedule now, and has been for the last couple weeks or so.

Every morning at 4am PDT a script brings the server down, attempts to update, and then restarts it. It will therefore always be relatively up to date, (latest within 24hrs,) and that is sufficient for almost every instance of updating except on days like today where they release a full version after 4am. :)
