Sounder Dota 2: Seattle-based USW Friendly Gaming

Sounder Dota2 is a west coast -based competitive Dota2 community. The name Sounder Dota2 is twofold, it both represents the home (Seattle) and the purpose of this community.

Sounder Dota2 means Dota2 free from the disrespect, animosity, and misery commonly found in Dota2 public matchmaking. SD2 is a community focused on a positive and competitive experience.

If you join, it is assumed you have read and agreed to the following.
All members of Sounder Dota2 MUST abide by these core tenants;
I. I will show respect to my allies and show sportsmanship to my opponents.

Do not be racist, sexist, ageist, anti-semetic, fat shaming, homophobic, transphobic, slut shaming, or any other number of alienating adjectives. Keep your really funny racist joke for you and your friends elsewhere.

II. I will not abandon my allies.

Do not abandon your allies unless you need too. There are many reasons why one would be justified in abandoning a game, please inform your allies what is happening before you leave.

III. I will communicate with my allies.

Whether through voice chat or text chat, communication is a must. If you just want to listen to loud music and keep to yourself, that's fine provided you communicate that to your allies before the game begins, and they can make their own decision on the matter. Note: You MUST speak English.

First offenses will result in a warning and a goodwill discussion between all parties if concluded as necessary. Repeated offenses will result in removal.

All members of Sounder Dota2 should keep these guidelines* in mind whilst playing.


A. Cultivate Positivity

You should be thinking about ways to overcome a challenge during the game, NOT complaining about how challenging the game is. Mistakes happen, Dota2 is a nuanced and complicated game, everyone has bad games and so on. Think about what needs to happen, keep morale high, work for that win and have fun doing it.

B. Always Learn

You should be open to criticism and suggestions. Dota2 is an ever changing game, and there is always something new to learn. View every game as a learning experience. No one of any skill level will be shunned from the community, provided you go into the game with an attitude of improvement and learning. On this note, criticism must be friendly and not hurtful in nature. A player who isn't allowed to make mistakes is a player who isn't allowed to improve.

C. One from Five

This is a reminder that all five players are working towards the same one thing: Victory. To achieve that one goal, you must work together as one. Your choices should be mindful for the team. Now, this doesn't mean that you are forced to do something you don't wish to, you should feel free to play what you enjoy, However, if you pick crystal maiden every game and never buy courier or wards, don't expect people to want to play with you. Know whether or not you're playing with people who want to screw around and experiment, or people who want to use more traditional methods.
