tl;dr:
Potato bought a Burning Flames TC from a scammer to further his collection and he regrets his decision to do so.
Steamrep handed him a Sr. Scammer tag instead of a Caution tag, which is in direct violation to their own rules. http://puu.sh/3MGgW.png
As stated by those rules, Potato should only have a Caution tag as this is his first offense.

What is in it for you:
You get to help your a very good guy get unmarked or a reduced tag, warranting his everlasting gratefulness.

What is in it for Steamrep:
They are able to maintain their good name by mending an error that violates their own rules.

It seems so unfortunately.

So.. less than 3 week's time of people writing replies, and it's over again?

Yes.

One or more new Tags is indeed a good idea, there's just not enough variety. Potato bought a single Unusual (high-value, but still just one) from a Scammer. And he's currently got the same Tag some who personally scammed thousands of dollars from many different users. That's just wrong.
In real-life we don't give the same punishment to someone who knowingly bought a stolen diamond necklace, as was given to someone who robbed 50 jewelry-stores.
Currently with SR tags, you're either clean, potential danger, or part of the worst scum TF2 has ever seen. There's no middle way between Caution and Scammer.

And, yet another person wondering: which of SR's rules were followed, which rules don't apply, and why? There's no arguments to the statement of "SteamREP did follow its own rules". I'm not saying you're wrong, I don't think anybody here is implying that, but where are the arguments? How can we trust your judgement in this case, and know your reasoning, if neither are shared?

A lot of what erico has been saying basically sums up what I've been saying, for the most part.

I think this is also something I just unearthed in my mind. Why doesn't SteamREP come up with something that isn't a scammer tag, but a different type of tag entirely? I think being called a scammer when you pay cash or whatever for high value items to a scammer isn't right. Call it something else, but scammer. In no way did Potato scam anyone, so why does he have a scammer tag?

Chaos, EXPLAIN how SteamREP followed their own rules. What rule did they follow?
