Folks as many may know that have been using the group server I run, that the factions have been really messed up from the get go. So while I might be able to un funktify them I really dont want to muck around in the SBC file and most likely trash the server anyway.

I will give 24 hours for you to blueprint anything on the server but plan for a wipe and restart with the same mods tomorrow evening 10/19/2020 probably around 9-10pm EST.

I do not know why it happened but the definition section of the SBC file for the mods were completely missing this is why there were no mods in game. I have restored the mods but of course this means any mod blocks went missing and the contents of those blocks are gone. Please feel free to send me a Steam IM to request missing materials.

Also in future if there is a problem with the game please contact me by leaving me a steam IM this is the fastest way to get my attention as I always check my steam messages. Other forms of contact may or may not reach me.

This is a Thread for any and all Known (Odd) causes for the server to crash.
barring any standard causes ( massive battles, ships crashing, large explosions, merging a ship, blueprints, and more....)

Tonight we experienced two crashes back to back.

I beleive the cause of this was The Grinding of one of the "Raptor Fighter" that I owned done twice in a row, and very suddenly crashed the server,

(not sure which block was the cause of the issue, because I ground down many of them)

If Next crash we have that is from an unusual suspected cause, please post a message on what it was and i will add it to the list

Rogue Runner

Everyone,

Several people have made some suggestions on makeing the world a better place to play as well as , perhaps, make the gameplay more fun.

1. Proposal to make the central world much smaller and have a standing rule to make no built in bases in the ground. This would be due to the fact that the world would be refreshed on a weekly basis.

2. Proposal to remove the large methods of mining converting, and Building. (DK Earthbreaker drill, Avantgard Synth, Mineral Synth, Nanite Factory )

UPDATE - It seems many want me to leave the Nanite Factory. I had hoped to move to the dev version but it seems that we will not be doing that in favor of keeping the NF!

3. Some set resource locations as well as some hidden ones that would be available by seeking out stations of the "Ancients" that will lead to rich finds???

4. Provide some smaller moons/planetoids that will provide locations for people to build permenent stations.

5. Possibly limiting world size altogether (100k distance max?)

6. Set ship speed to 200/200 as well to limit problems with multiplayer.

7. Dedicated PVP zone established using 6 gps coords that will be the ONLY area for player on player interactions. You may also build stations there as well but they would be open to attacks while owners are offline.

The idea is to increase player dependecy and hopefully interations. So what do you think I would like to move forward on some version of this idea within the next week. Please discuss this so we can come to a consensus about the new direction of the server.

I would also welcome any suggestions for a very short list of mods.

The Management

I am attempting to use the Server Extender restart capabilities. It did not help this evening due to the fact that "autostart" was not on the command line yet from a cold restart. I just did that now so I am hoping that we may have less down time. If the server crashes it should restart and reload the world withing a few minutes.

I have also instituted rolling snapshots of the server that are complete world saves in zip files that last for 5 days. So we should have a way to reclaim the server if something horrific happens.
