Back when it was still allowed, I ran an idle farm. I collected weapons and rare hat drops from 100 accounts every week. When Valve asked us to stop idle farming in 2014, I did stop then. I never did it for profit, as pretty much all the extra value ended back in my own backpack and will likely stay there until Valve decides to shut the servers off one day. I just did this as a hobby.
