INSTALLATION

0. Go to http://www.mediafire.com/download/r34u74mvirdt54u/GoldshaftB1.0.zip
1. Download and extract the game into any folder
2. Go to https://www.python.org/download/releases/2.5.4/
3. Scroll down to Download the release
4. Choose 'For x86 Processors' under Windows
5. Run the installer to instal Python
6. Goldshaft should now run, It is in the folder downloaded in step 0

If this still doesn't work try using this: http://www.manning.com/sande/installers/hello_world_setup.exe It will iinstall some other stuff for Python development, but, should get the job done

REPORTING BUGS AND TWEAKS

The best thiing to do is to is to create a text file as you're playing the game and writing down any tweaks and changes you'd make, along with with any bugs / unexpected behaivour.

When reporting bugs the three things we need to know are:
What happened?
What is the error messgae in the console?
Can you recreate it, if so, how?

Once you've got a text file post the bugs in the bugs thread, and tweaks and changes in their thread

GAME UPDATES

The game should be updated about once a month (that's an approx. time frame there, don't count on it) and we will post an update and change log for the update once it has been posted, to install a new update copy all the files for the new update in the same folder as the old one and merge all folders and replace all files

Overview

Goldshaft 1.1 is out! this is the first feature update since the beta started and also has many bug fixes. The main feature of this patch is the map whoch was requested by beta testers and openable by pressing 'm'. Inside buildings has now been fixed however we are aware of some performance issues in village and will be looking to fix them soon. There has been a small amount of work put into balance as well, meaning that digging down is necessary to get better gear and rarer ore are more common, for full update log see below

Change Log

BETA 1.1:

Map is now openable by pressing 'm'
Large perforance enhancements on Mobs
Villages don't sudden flash away anymore
Arrows going through blocks has now been fixed
Player can no longer jump out the map
Builds graphics have now been fixed
Players now have to dig down to be able to buy better gear
Ores now change every 5 chunks down rather than 10

You can then either paste the contents into your old install folder, merging all folders and replacing all files or paste the contents into a new folder (which is the easier way to do it)

Overview

Goldshaft Beta 1.0.1 is out, this is mainly a quickfix patch for some people with issues, the main bug this fixes is a bug that cuased the player's sprite not to be removed properly the other main thing this has is a title screen and a difficulty option to make it easier. There are a few other performance tweaks and improvement, more will come in the next 1.1 update

Important Note

In order to see the title screen and difficulty options you must run 'Goldshaft.exe'

BETA 1.0.1:

Title Screen containing an options screen with fullscreen and difficulty
Small performance increase on rendering player sprites
Fullscreen mode added with possible performance increase
Large improvements to mob render speed
Fullscreen has its quirks - not sure why
Fixed bug allowing thhe player to put any itme in any slot of the inventory
Fullscreen has been removed
Opition to turn music off in the title screen
Re-did block re-rendering
