Ferngully Reborn

Someone mentioned to me I didn't post this into an annoucement here, which is my mistake. I had posted it in the Discord, since all the active people are a part of that.

It has been almost a year since I inherited the Ark server from Derp. I know I haven't been active the past few weeks/month. The optimizations and less additions of content, as well as a lack of time on my part have led me to realize I no longer have time to admin the Ferngully Reborn server. With thousands of unofficial servers to potentially play on, people come and go on the Ferngully server due to its slightly increased rates, but with still a decent grind. Many have left due to higher rates or more active playerbase. I had never been good at recruitment, as many of you know, and I even tried to get people to help me with it. People got busy and nothing ever ended up happening, but I am just as much to blame since I didn’t pursue the issue.

I am willing to pass on the files to whoever wants them, but I am stepping down as admin. I can no longer support the mass responsibility that ARK requires, nor the stupidly large disk space for each new update. The files will have to be shared via a dropbox, as they are too large (even compressed) for Discord or typical emails to handle.

I am always reachable for questions regarding server configs, but I am dropping out of ARK. It’s a hard pill for me to swallow since ARK took 2000 hours of my time, but I am burnt out from trying to be in charge. I have resigned all of my other “in charge” jobs in other games as well. I just want to play games, not run them. It became increasingly difficult for me to even do more than run around my base most days, as I was always expecting someone to need help.

The server will be up through the month of July. The service will terminate on August 17th, 2017. Again, whoever wants files can get files or transfer off or whatever. I figured a good amount of advanced notice is wise to let people decide what to do.

I just want to give advice to whoever becomes the new admin. It is a selfless job. You don’t become admin to play the game, you become admin to keep the Ferngully name alive and strive to create a fair playing environment for all who participate. If you so choose, there is the Steam group and Discord server as well to manage. They will not disappear if you do not choose to take them on. I will save all the content from them and transfer them into the files of the server itself.

Thank you for giving me such a wonderful position and time to play with you. You all have been wonderful players, giving me advice and feedback on many, many matters. I appreciate all the hard work people put in. Maybe if I decide to pick it up again, I will, but for now I am retiring in all games from a position of authority.
