Hey everyone,
The last time you all heard from me I spoke about getting a proper forum set up for everyone here and else who would like to discuss and bounce ideas around about this Half Life 2 film idea I have on the go.
Well, as always, there were a few hiccups.
It was set up, ready to go but I had a few personal commitments that took up my time.
Then the server\website it was sub-domain of, crashed or something and so everything had to be reset. Except, the forum for us.
It also seems that the guy Im trying to get to set it up is either too slack, too busy or just does't want to do it (without telling me upfront)
So over the next week I'm going to be looking to find a suitable place to set up the forum. I may even place under my website (one I have in development already) if I can and doesn't bump my bandwidth up to high.

Sorry to everyone for the MASSIVE delay.

If anyone has any ideas on where a good place can be to set up a forum or has some good ideas on how to do it, you can either add me, or find me in HL2:DM on either the BestGN, Netspeed (Low Gravity) servers.

Hey, hey, hey, hey everyone!
I'm pretty excited to announce that a forum is in the works for everyone here and anywhere else on the wonderful wide word of web to join, participate, discuss and have fun.
The best thing about it too is that everyone can have their say unlike here where announcements are either restricted or be made free-for-all which runs the risk of the occasional tool interfering with posts.
I only had the idea yesterday so things are in motion now with working out where to put it, negotiations with a few people and general structuring and content.
So with any luck, it'll be up pretty soon.

To help you in answering any questions and your curiosity, let me explain further a brief outline of what this project is all about.

How The Idea Came About?
Firstly, I had the idea many a year ago, when HL2 first came out. As a film director, the game play, graphics, design and the story behind Half Life 2 was mind-blowing. It sparked my imagination racing, that it would make a good film, but only if it was done well. For years the idea stayed quiet as I kept a steady outlook for any talk of someone else doing a film adaptation.
It wasn't until a week ago that I just happened to speak of it for the first time in game one night in mid January, 2008.
It sparked off a lot of conversing and much brainstorming. It seems that a lot of people are already excited about the project.
A week later, I spoke of it again in game and decided to first, create a group and get people on board to make this a reality.

Why Do It?
For some of you whom have played the game, you know what occurs in the story. There are twists, drama, and interesting characters, set against an intriguing background. For those of you who haven't, I insist you play the game because you're seriously missing out on something. Plus it will aid A LOT with your input on this film.
Since the years have passed and I'm achieved my diplomas and gained experience in making a film; I now have the tools to give it a shot. It isn't until lately that the technology has developed that makes it far easier for us at home to make a movie. For someone like myself who has wanted to do this for years on end, but wanting that cast and crew to be a part of the production. Is it now, with the benefit of course of having broadband, where I've been able to immerse into this online gaming community and befriend some great individuals. Along with Steam's development of the Community, Groups, and Friends List, it enables a building block of communication where we can all be a part of it, no matter where we are. And so it is with the help of others like me - those of you who love the game, whether it is Deathmatch, Half Life 2, or both. Who are just as much fans of many aspects of the game, know it inside-out; your love, appreciation, respect, admiration for the game that gives you hours of fun, enjoyment, and online socialising - this is a chance to contribute to do the film version. A film that you want to see. A film that will show Hollywood how a game adapation should be done. A film that allows us to band together as fanboys and fangirls, to network, to befriend, to create.

When Does Production Start?
Not for a while. First, pre-production will begin once roles have been established and committment is set in concrete. I'm well aware that not all people have the time in the world and have jobs that pay - this is all volunteer based. So it is with our spare-time that we can put to good use. For the time-being, it is all about talent-scouting you guys out there, establishing who does what, then diving into the various elements of the film (script, actors, equipment, sound, music, CGI, set design, costume design, etc).

Where Is It Based?
The film will be produced in and around Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. A majority of us live here so this is why. But it doesn't matter if you live in Kansas City, you can still contribue in your own way.

I hope I've been able to shine the light on this crazy idea I have. And I hope that people feel as excited and pumped as I do!!
I'll do my best to answer any questions, help out and provide further announcements and updates. But of course, like some of you, I must spend time on important things like running my own business, making money, and 4 other film projects. Eitherway, I'm online a fair bit and always in game of a night, so Ill be doing regular updates here.

Yes, it's a complete shock that Gamer Guys has had a complete change. And I'm sure you are all wondering who's responsible and why it happened.
You're much beloved admin man, DjλŃgö 力™ (MELB), decided to hand off the rights of this group to me due to his own doing. An evolution of sorts. And the fact that this film project is underway and we need\want as many people to know about this so everyone can hop on board was another big factor behind it all. What if you didn't know about it until it was too late? This group has grown massive lately, whilst my original group I started was off to a slow crawl.
If you had ideas about using this group as a dating site, well it can still be so! Networking is what will pull this film through, and you just never know who you will meet. But if you seriously had ideas about using this group as a dating site, get up, turn the computer off and walk outside to your nearest social outlet. Even if it is Safeway with that cute check-out chick. Alternatively, you can pay for a dating site and sit at your compuer refreshing that inbox of yours on RussianRomance.com. Best of luck to you.
