ABOUT Decimation Guild

An online gaming community.

Welcome to the Decimation Gaming Community, a group of (sometimes) mature gaming friends spanning multiple MMO games.

A little bit of our history...

The roots of this guild dates back to EverQuest, starting in 1999. The early Members of the group ultimately came from three guilds on the Nameless server; Decadent Few, Scions of Veeshan and Verataes Blade. We all came together in a raiding guild named Decade. The well-oiled machine of Decade took down many, many bosses in EQ through various expansions. Then came along a little game called World of Warcraft.

When WoW was released in 2004, some of us who had grown tired of the time commitment that is required of a hard-core raiding guild, such as Decade had become, decided we wanted to take a step back and have a casual gaming experience. About 10 or so of us left EQ and Decade, and Cataclysm was born. Cataclysm had a nice start as a casual guild, however, the direction Blizzard pushed WoW, it became apparent the only way to continue existence in Warcraft was to begin raiding. And raid they did...quite successfully in fact. The guild is still raiding to this day on the Earthen Ring server.

Again, however, a sect of the guild began to wane on the grind of hardcore raiding, and with the release of WARhammer in 2008, created Cataclysm there on the Badlands server. The guild quickly moved to Mordheim, as Badlands lag made the game unplayable. Initial over-expansion by Mythic ultimately led to server mergers, and we ended up on Monolith, then Volkmar. Another guild named Cataclysm already existed on the Order side on Volkmar, so we were forced to rename...and Decimation was born.

Decimation was part of a strong alliance named Serpent's Children, with 5 other guilds. Slowly, as the game population shrunk, Members of the alliance guilds began to gravitate into Decimation, strengthening the guild's player base. Decimation still has Members playing WAR, now on the Badlands server, with yet another consolidation merger...and we've gone full circle. ;) The current alliance is Dark Horizon.

Though, at the time with WAR's populations dropping, and EA/Mythic's inability to address many balance flaws in the PvP game of WAR in a timely manner, most of us jumped ship over to RIFT. RIFT is one of our current games, in addition to Star Wars: The Old Republic (we have a very strong presence both). We're also building in The Secret World, and have a good contingent headed into Guild Wars 2.

Who are we, as a Guild?

This has been an interesting balancing act through the years, but one that I feel we've done quite well over the years. Our most generic label would be the ever-popular "casual raiding guild". What does that mean? Well, I'd say about 95% of our Membership are working adults, with families and responsibilities. Our modus operandi has always been RL > Gaming. You have lives...we understand that. No one in this guild is going to harass you, or mandate that you be present for any guild functions.
