Sorry everyone, I know I said the servers would only be down for like a week…
I’ve been busy focusing on some other things over the last year and I feel bad for neglecting everything here within Chill-Servers. Over the last 8 months I landed a new full-time job, I finally escaped the house and moved across the country into my first apartment, and my father succumbed to Covid.
I feel like there have been a lot of good changes; however, I’ve been steeping in my own pain as well. I’ve been seeking professional help and I’ve spent a lot of time being introspective and meditating on everything. I feel like during that time I’ve been absent from the life I want to live.
I was gone for so long and I hated it. I felt like I had to constantly work on important tasks, and I couldn’t let myself rest and enjoy anything because it would be a waste of time and ever postpone the return of the servers and all the long awaited changes I want to surprise you with.
I apologize for being radio silent as well. I love the concept of dropping new and exciting things by surprise, but I should have been more transparent about the timeline.
I haven’t given up nor lost hope for this project. I’m going to try some new techniques and experiment with the infrastructure – it will be incredible, but it will take a little bit more time. Most of this feels like a personal challenge that I need to overcome, but I need to get better about asking for help. I’m planning on having a tiered release schedule for staff-only betas and public re-openings for the existing gmod servers and a special new one.
Before that, I’m upgrading a lot of the hardware and moving parts around between machines. The servers will be installed under a proper hypervisor as well.
I don’t have an exact timeline, but know that it will happen. In the meantime I’m going to try and spend more time here as I’ve realized this community is here more for me and each other than the servers.

The TTT server finally makes a return. It's a semi-vanilla version of Terrortown with no blind boxes, paid weapons, or keep-inventory. Instead it has helpful quality-of-life tweaks and additions. Here are some of the features:

• 1-hit Knife – The Knife traitor-weapon is a one-hit kill, even when thrown.
• 100-tick server – Higher tickrate allows for higher-accuracy and better hitreg.
• CS:S Guns – In addition to the vanilla weapons, the rest of the CS:S weapons are available.
• Equipment – A few, tasteful, traitor and detective items have been added.
• Damagelog – Damage log menu with built-in RDM reporting system
• Justice – Anti-betrayal system that allows the victim to slay or kick an aggressor. (Like Halo)
• Lots of maps – Some of the best maps available for TTT are on the server, including classic ones.
• Outfitter – No need to download any playermodels, just pick your own from the workshop.
• Advanced Disguiser – Steal someone else’s name and commit heinous acts as if you were them.

Last night Comcast was performing scheduled maintenance and my network was down for about 5 hours. I'm not sure exactly what they did, but they recycled my public IPv4 address. Although, I did prepare for this. I have some DDNS rules that will automatically rebind my new IP in place of the old one. It might just take a while. DNS propagation on the internet takes 24-48 hours. It may take way less time, but please be patient. All services will return to normal functionality once the propagation takes place.

Keep in mind that play.chillservers.com will always forward to the current IP (assuming the DNS rule has propagated)

I know I said it would be a week-long outage MAX, but I took some time to focus on mental, physical, and spiritual health.

It was a much-needed break and I'm glad I took it. In that time I fixed everything up and all game servers and network services are back online.

- The Gmod servers are back online and the passwords have been removed. All data should be retained. Some updates have been made.

This is still a mystery to me, but a couple days ago my Linux Mint 19.1 install went a little weird. The Apache server that was hosting some webpages, the fastdl for the servers, and my cloud storage stopped working.

Apparently my automated backup system just wasn't working for the past month so my backups are a bit outdated, which is fine; however, I tried restoring a backup and it made everything worse. The system wouldn't login and everything was fukt.

I've decided that I'm going to have to reinstall the OS and reconfigure all the services again. I can do this in a few days.

I still have all the data backed up, I just have to migrate it to the new config once it's set-up.

The timing is somewhat inconvenient because I'm about to graduate in a couple weeks, but I'm hoping to get this sorted out in about a week.

The Gmod Servers, the Cloud Storage, my url-shortener, and the Discord Bots will be offline for about a week.
