BIT is a Team Fortress 2 (TF2) non-profit, unofficial online courthouse on Steam whose purpose is to identify problems (seen or heard, with evidence) of activity in which one or more members of a party are engaging in scamming or cheating during the action of trading, gifting, or exhanging items/etc. within the game of TF2. BIT also does trading and discussions among its own members. Here, you can feel safe and secure knowing that you are in good hands when you make an exchange. As for the cheating-prevention aspect of this bureau, there is something very important that TF2 players must know, especially judges: cheating during trading is a type of crime that is identified with varying degrees depending on its severity. The higher the degree, the more severe the course of action that must be taken by us judges and/or Valve/Steam/etc. (See BIT Guide to Criminal Procedures [Discussions]) For example, the defendant could be cheating the plaintiff out of a deal by giving them a ridiculous ref. (refined metal) number. In a much more severe case, the suspect party could be accused of stealing a credit card and/or its information. Depending on the severity of the case, BIT will do what is necessary and as much as it can within its power to bring justice to the TF2 player marketplace. The bureau's most powerful move is reporting malicious activity to Valve and/or Steam. BIT evaluates whether there is proof, whether the immediate story truly happened, when it happened, who was involved, and much, much more. Rulings are done in the chat room, which is the Courthouse, and court is scheduled in the events. Stay tuned for hearings and make sure to read all announcements.
