Aimkinesis (from aim and the Greek -kinesis “motion”) is a term used to describe the refined ability to control aiming movements with precision in video games, particularly in first-person and third-person shooters. It refers to the coordinated use of motor skills, reaction time, and spatial awareness to position a crosshair accurately on a target. In simple terms, aimkinesis is the execution of precise aiming actions through practiced hand–eye coordination. The concept is often associated with the development of mechanical skill through training, repetition, and familiarity with gameplay mechanics.

Aimkinesis is also used more broadly to describe the influence or direction of in-game outcomes through precision, focus, or intentional control. In this extended sense, it refers to the idea of guiding results without direct physical force, emphasizing mental concentration and refined motor planning. It describes the notion of controlling or guiding actions—or outcomes—through deliberate focus and practiced cognitive–motor coordination.
