Introduction

Hello! I am Niels also known as Yingwu, welcome to my Steam Group for my reviews as a Curator. So why the name A Bird's Eye View? Well, my nickname Yingwu means Parrot and I love making reviews that are a snapshot (get it, like the avatar :p) of my observations and experiences playing a game! I tend to play most types of games as friends also often recommend games to me and when I play a game that isn't a meme or something of the sorts I always (nowadays) leave a review of them.

Review Structure

I am currently using what I call v4 for my reviews and it looks as follows:

Introduction: A brief summary of the game and my experiences preparing for play
Visuals and Mechanics: An objective attempt explaining the visuals/mechanics of the game
Gameplay: A subjective list of my experiences and thoughts playing the game
Soundtrack: I'm a musician at heart so I want to always keep the music in mind
Conclusion: An opinionated recap of the review and if I recommend the game or not
optionally:
Addendum: Space for thoughts post-review that I had to share or correct
Associated Media: Videos or Screenshots related to what I mentioned in the review

Due to the Curator Connect offers I sadly had to decline because of Steam not giving an option to exclude tags I'll put a list here of 'genres' I don't enjoy and therefor won't review:

As I've mentioned before the reviews on this page have taken a break. Sadly, as my life is getting even more increasingly annoying and mentally draining this will stay the same for a good while to come.

However, I didn't want to fully give up gaming and I didn't want to fully give up reviewing even if it's in a smaller way so for the past while I've been putting good effort into filling out my RankOne page with all the games I can remember having played in the past and leaving each and every one of them at least a rating out of 5.

For games I played for a longer amount of time I even split out the categories that make up the final ratings and for the recent games I've played I will even leave a brief summary of my thoughts if it's anything beyond a couple of minutes in a meme/achievement game.

Reviews are taking a break~

I know I've already been spotty with writing reviews but at the moment I'm just not feeling it. In terms of gaming I'm busy doing a lot of other things between regularly streaming on Twitch or streaming with friends for much longer games or even playtesting entire games throughout their development that I'm not enjoying the review aspect at the moment.

Sure it seems easy enough to write a review and the review itself only takes a minute or 30 but the entire experience of playing the game gets changed. You're not enjoying the game really because you're constantly writing down notes and thinking of "oh I still need a screenshot for this" or "yeah, I have to remember figuring this out for the review" and it's exhausting, every now and then even downright ruining the enjoyment entirely and in general not worth it at the moment.

So yes, reviews are going on a break BUT should I get a curator offer or like I said helping out friends with a curator review before official launch you'll hear from me on this Curator Page for reviews.
