Take On Helicopters is a 2011 video game developed by Bohemia Interactive. It was released 27 October 2011 for Microsoft Windows, with its first official DLC, Take On Helicopters: Hinds being released 15 March 2012.

Take On Helicopters: Rearmed

Downtown patch featuring Take On Helicopters: Rearmed

Patch 1.06 a.k.a. Downtown brings across a large number of fixes, improvements and optimizations to our core engine. Most of all though, Take On Helicopters: Rearmed is a free DLC included in the patch. It automatically merges your TKOH experience with previously released content from Arma 2 and Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead, should you own those.

As with any patch, we’ve tried to target the most significant issues found by the community of pilots and ourselves. Have a look at the detailed change log in the read-me file for details.

TKOH Project Lead Joris-Jan van ‘t Land on the new patch: “Recently our core technology used for various games has had fresh fixes and optimizations applied to it. This was mostly done via the Operation Arrowhead beta patch program. Since Take On Helicopters is running on an improved version of this technology, we were able to port across these improvements. Many players already report significant performance boosts when flying over densely populated areas such as Seattle downtown. Another big focus was the multiplayer code, improving its stability, reliability and security. It’s nice to be able to upgrade a whole range of titles at once in this way.”

Perhaps the biggest feature of this patch is Take On Helicopters: Rearmed. We were able to find a convenient way for people owning titles such as Arma 2, Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead, Arma 2: Combined Operations to get that content into TKOH, without needing to re-download, re-locate or re-purchase it. Keep in mind that while a lot of content is available, not everything is fully supported. We recommend playing the campaigns from these older games in the games themselves, for example. All in all though, we feel this is a very cool bonus for our loyal players.

About the Rearmed initiative, Joris-Jan van ‘t Land says: “When we initially developed Take On Helicopters, its focus was on civilian flight. We still believe in this non-combat gameplay, but of course our studio’s origins lie in military gaming. By using some clever ways of merging installed products, without the player having to tweak manual settings, it is now possible to combine the two worlds. Take On Helicopters gets an incredible amount of new content, while many of the improvements are applied to it. I love flying a helicopter over Chernarus, bathed in improved lighting and covered by the beautiful clouds. Takistan is a more detailed part of South Asia and the ideal playground for combined arms desert operations.”

To apply the Downtown update (including Rearmed), visit our game updates section and download the installer. The Steam version of the game will be updated automatically. Note: if you installed the patch when it was released, you may encounter a multiplayer key registration issue. A hotfix was released on the updates page to address this (the Steam version has it automatically applied already).
