Steam group for the mod TF2: Gold Rush

This is a TF2 sourcemod attempting to build Team Fortress 2 back to its true golden age (2007-2010).

Our goal is to deliver a curated, faithful TF2 experience–refining its visuals and doing our best to respect the game's original artistic vision while also blending in the fun player expression and loadout variety that made being a TF2 player in the early 2010s so unforgettable.

February 10, 2025 Update (A Heavy Update, phase 1)
  • Added 2 new maps, Badwater Basin and Steel
  • Crit deaths now get indicated in the killfeed with a red glow
  • Remade some HUD weapon bucket icons
  • Fixed some viewmodel arms being the wrong team color
  • Fixed/improved rimlighting on many weapon models and viewmodel arms
  • Added dynamic lighting for muzzle flashes (Can be toggled using tf_muzzleflash_light)
  • Added ConVar for modifying lifetime of dropped shells, tf_shells_lifetime
  • Fixed shells appearing to be stuck halfway inside the ground when landing
  • Added ConVar for toggling model muzzle flashes, tf_muzzleflash_model
  • Added ConVar for toggling old sprite-based explosions, tf_explosion_sprite
  • Added ConVar for toggling explosions pushing ragdolls, tf_explosion_ragdollphys
  • Weapon viewmodel sway can now be enabled in Options > Multiplayer > Advanced
  • Enabled new impact effects by default
  • Raised some default graphical settings to higher values

  • Added server map timeleft to upper right of scoreboard
  • Added a gear symbol behind the health bar for Engineer buildings, in both target IDs and freeze panels
  • Changed target ID and freezepanel background to use 9 slice scaling, borders are also thicker
  • Fixed target IDs of disguised Spies in spectator being colored after the team they’re disguised as
  • Fixed certain Control Point gamemode HUD effects “leaking” over to the Payload HUD
  • Added number on HUD showing health gained on pickup/Medic regen tick
  • Added intro videos for Gold Rush, Badwater and Steel
  • Added smoke to the feet of a rocket jumping Soldier
  • Fixed console spam when loading a viewmodel with attachments
  • Fixed BLU Scout using the incorrect team color pants
  • Fixed ÜberCharge overlay disappearing if set on fire before activating
  • Updated Dustbowl and Granary with several exploit fixes
  • Updated Granary to remove the setup time and gates
  • Some changes to the second part of the first stage of Gold Rush to give the attackers more of an advantage
  • Added workaround for a bug in Metamod: Source where it detects the game as TF2 and loads the wrong binaries (causing a crash later on player connect if SourceMod is also installed)
  • Added Lumberyard and Ravine soundscapes for community map support
  • Added ModelGlowColor and YellowLevel material proxies

    Heavy
  • Added Natascha, The Sandvich and the Killing Gloves of Boxing
  • Sandvich dropping can be enabled using tf_weapon_lunchbox_drop (temporarily disabled until a later update)
  • Fixed minigun barrel acceleration varying by framerate (previously it spun up/down instantly at high framerates)
  • Fixed Fists swing animation breaking at higher latencies
  • Fixed Fists weapon bucket icon coloring
  • Added new voicelines for getting domination and revenge kills
    Engineer
  • Dispensers and teleporters can now be upgraded up to level 3
  • Buildings can now be placed by mapmakers in Hammer
    Demoman
  • Stickybombs now break apart when damaged by hitscan weapons
  • Added bottle break sound
    Spy
  • Cloak can now be regenerated by picking up ammo/standing near dispensers
  • Fixed being able to taunt while disguised or cloaked
  • Fixed getting stuck in enemy players when removing disguise
  • Fixed being able to see cloaked enemy Spies’ target IDs
    Pyro
  • Increased airblast delay from 0.75 to 1 second (pre April 28 2010 patch behaviour)
  • Switched flamethrowers back to higher detail v_model
  • Added new firing sounds to The Backburner
    Medic
  • Increased The Kritzkrieg's ÜberCharge rate bonus from 10% to 25%
    Sniper
  • Fixed muzzleflash appearing when firing while scoped
    TFBots
  • Improved navigation on Dustbowl first stage
  • Fixed tf_bot_join_after_player counting the SourceTV client as a player
  • tf_bot_auto_vacate is now disabled by default, bots will fill up all slots if quota is set to maxplayers
  • Engineer bots now upgrade their Dispensers
