Who are the Party Poopers?

This group began as the de facto successor to the Physics Inquisition, dedicated to debating against the introduction of additional fictional technology into the game while admitting the various necessary weasels taken by the developers (and by them acknowledged as such). To that end, we use logic to prove that those features are neither realistic nor beneficial to the gameplay. We hate the appeals to emotions (“Wouldn’t it be cool?”) and especially to the author’s pre-conceptions (“It’s a sci-fi game; where are the aliens?”); we love citations, especially when they link to articles full of science woo and salesman pitch while concerning the same technology as the similarly enthusiastic articles a decade prior.

However, with the introduction of Scenarios and Keen’s focus on them over the next following updates, rather than a variety of bug-fixes and minor improvements that have been continuously proposed, our focus has shifted to campaigning against the dangerous genre slippage of Space Engineers in order to pander to a section of the fan-base that seems to have held misconceptions about the nature of the game - the section that is quite busy bullying us off the forums.

The reason for us battling on either front is that we bought the game expecting it to be Minecraft in space, not Battlefield with voxel-based building; an open-world sandbox without a plot and with as many opportunities for non-military engineering as possible. Nor did we expect it to be Battlestar Engineers, which it has de facto become.

Despite the common argument to the contrary, the fact that we paid money for an Early Access game does entitle us to participate in its development by loudly protesting against steps we believe are harmful to the vision of the game we were promised.
