ABOUT OpenTTD Battle Royale

If you're in this group, it means you have shown interest in joining the OpenTTD Battle Royale, posted at http://citymayhem.net/showthread.php?tid=288

If you've not got the files and stuff, you need to go to http://www.openttd.org/en/download-stable. Download the installer and it will do the job for you. I highly recommend ticking the boxes for the OpenGFX, OpenSFX, and Open[iForgetTheExtension].

Play a few games to get the hang of it. The AI modules aren't included in the base OpenTTD game, so you might want to set up a small game. Get in touch with Staticwolf, as he'll likely help you out.

Google for "OpenTTD Wiki" for a wealth of information. I'll quickly list some basic information to set you on the right path:
-The 4 basic types of transport are road vehicles, trains, ships and planes/helicopters. Each has advantages and disadvantages. Just to kick you off, road vehicles and cheap, slow, and good for small distance. You can probably guess the rest.
-The further you take cargo, the more money it will earn.
-Passengers and the people who write letters apparently don't care where they end up. Passengers and mail can be taken to anywhere that accepts passengers and mail, and they'll be thankful for the trip.
-If you intend to use trains (recommended), learn how to use Path Signals. Don't use Block Signals.
-Explore the routing settings. It's possible to make a vehicle wait until it's fully loaded before leaving the loading bay, which can help a lot of situations. There are many more things that can be explored.
-Try not to annoy towns too much. They might stop you from building near them, which can be a very expensive thing to fix.
-Towns can grow, giving more buildings and industries in the town. "Cities" will grow twice as fast as other towns. Growth can be encouraged by dropping passengers off at the city. Picking up passengers has no effect on this. In all honesty, I'm not entirely certain how this system works.
-When we play, we'll be using a "realistic acceleration" settings. This makes trains less dumb. If you want to know how to set it up for your practise game, go to the wiki and search for it.
-There's a remarkably large amount of stuff to learn about in reality. This is just the basics.
