Building In Northern Regime.

I Just wanted to update some of you on the current state of construction in-game and what we plan to do with it. Construction right now is static. You have to find a preexisting structure, you then build onto that; a wall, stairs, a bed, and a roof. It's pretty basic since it's static making it the same for every user.

We have the modular building planned out. Modular building meaning you can place blocks wherever you wish. We really would like to have a modular building system as it takes up a lot of game time since it is fun and creative, also creating incentive to collect materials. The reason we did not start with modular building is because I don't have the knowledge to save blocks the player has instantiated in the world, it's very complicated and difficult to understand. That being said I have contracted a freelance programmer to help me out and we now have the modular saving complete.

With this all said, all I have to do now is program the construction system itself which is something I actually know how to do.

Because we are so close to launch, just under 20 days now, I have decided that I won't be working on the building system. Programming the modular building will still take time to create, then once it is created I have to resolve the bugs that follow. I believe this would be a waste of time that would be better spent on more important mechanics. Building is something we really want but I don't think it should be our primary objective. Still nothing is set in stone, so we'll see what happens.
