Server update!

To begin, the server is getting some much needed love after the update which messed up all our spawn ships.
The update is 'ready' but I will not be posting it immediately. This is simply to let you know what's coming soon (actually soon, not keen soon)

We are adding some new mods with this server update that will enhance the PvE aspect of the server greatly.

First is the Modular Encounters Spawner, which allows the next two mods to work.
Air Traffic, which is more or less pirates in atmosphere.
Corruption PvE, which are some new more powerful pirate style ships that occupy space.

Quick note: these new 'Corruption' ships have weapons that can take down your shields and destroy your ship if you are not prepared, DO NOT ATTACK unless you are prepared and have a decent sized shield and weapon loadout. They will not go quietly.

Second thing we are adding is the Build Info mod to the server. Which assists you in finding air leaks and gives detailed information for blocks.

Lastly, we will be adding back the Auto Ore Collection Mod on request.


As for other relevant updates, I have updated the spawn ships to be hydrogen powered only.
They have been given a full tank of fuel so you shouldn't have any serious issues with moving around the world with them, as they are the exact same form factor as the ion powered version.

Secondary Announcement (please read above first)

Future updates are going to be slow. That is why I am doing this update now. I have no time frame because this is an extensive project I will need to focus on even if I get help working on them.

Hydro Survival has always been about the fuel, but when you see pirates or ships with Ions, it ruins the 'no ion' part of the server.
I am currently working on removing all ion powered ships, including pirates and the new Corruption ships, and replacing them with Hydrogen powered versions.

In addition to those ships, I will be primarily starting on the ion powered ships sold by the stations, since a lot of these ships are ion powered by default.
This will reduce the cost of the ships because Ions take much more resources than hydrogen thrusters do to build.
Although, you will have to account for hydrogen in the new ships. I will add full tanks, but the ships will need to be modified to allow this.

To help keep the server online I am also starting a monthly donation goal.
The goal is going to start at 30$, and I will let everyone know when we've reached the donation goal.
(We've reached it for this month already!)

The goal is small, but will help maintain the server and keep it from going offline in the future.

'new' server is online and you can resume playing.
You may have lost some progress as I had to use a backup from last night, but everything should be just as it was before.

Note: this is temporary as we are trying to move to the US location in order to get better ping for everyone

SE Server may need to be transferred later today or tomorrow.
We are looking to move to a US based dedicated server and in order to make this move we need to use a temporary machine in order to run the server.
It should be fine but maybe not as fast as the previous, so I will be doing cleanups more often for inactive grids.

This will be a temporary move for the next month or so. I have taken backups if the server does go down today, so we will be able to resume from the time of this message, forward.
Keep in mind the server is community funded and I do not personally like to ask for donations, but as always, they do help me out with server costs each month.

I am working on some new donation incentives for the time being and will be setting up a patreon as well.

I wanted to announce ahead of tomorrow's wipe what will be happening with the server.
Firstly, the wipe will take place normally, we'll generate a new world with similar settings.
Some settings will be changed at least temporarily, this includes the following.
~ Players will be at 32, but the PCU will be set at 50k per player for the time being. I will most likely increase this as needed.
~ Inventory for players will be set at 6.25x
~ Inventory for cargo will be set at 3x.
~ Cargo ships will be re-enabled as they have been changed.

Secondly, Block changes.
~ We will begin this wipe with progression enabled. Some blocks will likely not be in progression fields. The progression will be turned off later depending on player response.
~ We will be removing all modded reactors and weapons for the start of this wipe. The reason is that we are moving towards a more balanced system to also work with the shield mod. note: the shield mod will not be removed.
~ The mineral extractor is being re-worked, and also will be missing for the beginning of the wipe.
~ Most mods will be staying with or without research on them. Most of the research is tied to progression type blocks, so you can't really skip and make certain blocks without first building the previous ones, the exception being reactors etc.
~ The spawn pod should still work fine, It does need to be re-worked due to the survival kit addition and storage changes.

Above all else, we expect a player increase during the starting of this wipe, and there will be no offline raid protection at the start of this wipe as we explore different options, PvP is enabled, but of course Offline raiding is frowned upon entirely (you know the drill, you offline raid and you may just have half the server attacking you...)

I am not restricting anything here, I know the server needs major rebalancing and fixes. This will help us to make the server as best as we can to also make your playing experience better as we improve.

There are also a few 'mod' questions available near the bottom of the form, feel free to place mod requests here, however, I will be making new forms that put 'reports' in a spreadsheet for easier tracking.

Additionally everyone is allowed to add answers to this form, If you've played on the server for only a few seconds, or if you've played for 100+ hours or more, I appreciate your responses.
