ABOUT TF2 Gentlemannly Traders United

Gentlemannly Traders: The Elite of Traders

Trading is a business, and hence deserves a certain set of etiquette, which most traders sadly lack. A true Gentlemann Trader knows that all is fair in trading and selling, and understands that making low offers is simply good business, and is to be expected from an experienced trader.

This society serves the purpose of uniting "Team Fortress: 2" traders willing to forgo the vulgarities and hostilities of the common trader with the goal of making trading easier and more pleasant.

To bear the most honerable title of "Gentlemann Trader", one must meet the following criteria:

1. Be polite. All trades, no matter how small, must be conducted in a friendly manner, regardless of disagreements. The ultimate act of insult, "Unfriending" another trader in the middle of the trade simply because of a distasteful offer, instantly disqualifies a potential Gentlemann Trader. If you wish to terminate a trade, inform the other party that you're not interested. Allow them a moment to make a more reasonable offer, if they refuse to change it, politely excuse yourself and thank them for their time.

2. Be efficient. Remember the proper formalities, but do not take excess time "deciding" on an offer. Have a clean, organized backpack. Provide a link to your backpack in your profile page. Upon completing a trade through TF2items.com, manually remove your (now traded) item from the matchmaking service if it's not gone already.

3. Have a plan regarding your offers before the trade. Analyse your fellow businessman's backpack before sending a friend/trade request.

4. All business is good business. Recognize that small, seemingly worthless offers are signs of a skilled trader. One does not become successful using only 1:1 trade value. A Gentlemann Trader will not rebuke another trader for a low offer, he (or she if you're a Pyro) will simply respond with a higher counter-offer.

There is no such thing as a "rip-off", while kindness makes a better Gentlemann Trader, all traders should know the value of their items beforehand.

5. No backpack may be "Private". Anyone should be able to examine your backpack for items of interest.

6. When posting an item for trade on TF2Items.com, you must genuinely be interested in every item you request. As there is currently no functionality to indicate whether you're interested in multiple items, asking for multiple items is acceptable. However, you must make your purpose clear immediately upon starting a trade discussion.

7. Post your likely trade offer in the comments with a link to your backpack to find good trade partners from the group.

If you believe you meet these criteria, i'd like to talk about one more thing. This group will also be having many lotteries and competitions, you do not know when you may win, there can also be prizes for winning! Also, this group will have chat, events, annoucements, gameplay, information and more! Feel free to join.
