Curious about the backstory of ExileLife?
20 years have passed since the start of the EXILE. A handful of the original inmates are still alive and, using their knowledge of the island, these inmates have seized control of key towns across the island - forming four gangs: the Cartel, the Mafia, the Syndicate, and the Yakuza.
NATO leaders had long since forgotten the prisoners, but with the renewed violence it once again drew their attention. Their war with CSAT was rapidly draining all available resources and they saw an opportunity and seized it. Quickly and quietly, they moved a private security force to the island. These guards' mission: to control the island and start exporting the island's rich resources using the inmates as labour.
You are a fresh inmate, processed by the courts and shipped straight to EXILE. You have a choice: live a life of solitude under the radar, or pledge your life to a gang. Running away from the protection of the gangs may seem the more lucrative option. But be warned, the guards can only patrol so much of the island, and putting one step in the wrong territory could end your life.
The life of a gang member, on the other hand, requires strength, perseverance, and loyalty. Your gang is your family, shelter, job, and above all else, your protection. Prove your worth to your gang and you will find your place in its hierarchy. However, even in families, power comes at a cost and you may find that the only way to raise yourself above the rest is to remove them by force. Just remember that loyalty is rewarded, but a poorly-planned betrayal will lead to a punishment worse than death.

Hello fellow Inmates,

We hope you've all been having an amazing start to 2017. We've been pretty quiet on the development front because we've been spending countless hours working on ExileLife so we can bring it to you.

Understanding the fact that the Exile and the ExileLife communities are widely diverse, we've decided to run a small, two question survey. This survey will allow us to better provide servers to our players at launch. Hello everyone,

Welcome to our first of, hopefully many, dev blogs for Exile Life. We are very excited to show you what we have in store for the mod. As you can see in our features list, we have been working very hard to bring a unique, yet familiar, scenario to both our new life players and our veterans. We hope to provide an amazing experience that both immerse you into the gameplay and provide a reimagination of what a “life” server feels like.
We’ve been getting some questions about Exile Life, so let’s take some time to answer some of them.
What’s the difference between Exile Life and Altis Life?

In Altis Life, there is a line between good and evil. The cops are suppose to be good, and the civs are suppose to be evil. This is not the case in Exile Life. The boundary between good and evil is blurred. You are an inmate sent to a prison island for your crimes against humanity. Yes, you are expected to act within the guidelines of roleplay, but being “good” isn’t always...good. Even the guards, as that they are suppose to hold up the laws on the island, you will quickly find can and will be found to be corrupt and downright evil sometimes.
Altis Life gameplay is normally focused more on recreating “real life”. Exile Life gameplay is focused on the life of an Exiled inmate. Everyone on the island, including the guards, were exiled to this island. You won’t find speed cameras, guards patrolling the entire island, and you won’t be safe everywhere you go.

When is the Alpha?

We hope to announce the date of our very first Alpha testing of Exile Life here in the next few weeks, but until then, we still have a lot of things ahead of us. More details about Alpha and what that entails when we get closer to it. Short and sweet right? Don’t worry, it will be here soon™.

Can I play it right now?

Unfortunately, no. Exile Life is still in development and we do not have any public servers. Public testing of the mod will begin when the Alpha is released.

How can I host this mod on my own server?

The short answer is you can’t. The long answer is that we believe the experience of Exile Life will be degraded as more and more hosts come online. Due to “life” style servers requiring rules for Roleplay and each community having different beliefs on what those rules should be, the casual player would be screwed over. We believe that the only thing that should change across servers that you decide to play on should be the roleplay experience. The features, the mod, and rules should stay the same.

Where can I play it?

Throughout the Alpha, Beta, and full release, our host, The Altis Project will be providing the servers and administrative functions to run these servers. Servers will be located all over the world based on regional demand.

What are the requirements to play?

Two mods, and that’s it. You will just need the latest version of Exile Mod and the latest version of Exile Life Mod. You can find both of these mods on our website, or on A3 Launcher.

Where can I go to ask other questions?

You can ask all sorts of questions over at our facebook, twitter, discord, or even the Exile Life Mod Subform on Exile Mod forums. We will try to answer your question to the best of our abilities.
