Following the capture of a Chinese CSTA officer, the Gendarme Station at Harcourt was tasked with his transportation to the government base at Georgetown.

A convoy left Harcourt at 0430 hours, consisting of two off-road Gerndarme vehicles and the prisoner's truck. Unfortunately, after passing safe through two Gendarme checkpoints, travelling along the coastal road towards Georgetown, the escort was ambushed by gunmen.

It soon became clear that the coastal road was no longer safe, and with increasing daylight it wsa unclear where the Gendarmes could go. Fortunately a local recommended a cross-country route to a friendly hamlet.

Stopping at the hamlet, the escorts were directed to an apparently empty hut, which was actually a secret NATO outpost. After re-equipping, the escorts proceeded on foot through the jungle towards some Prowler armoured vehicles.

The road towards Georgetown from there looked simple enough, and the unit felt confident as they proceeded along some logging roads. However, trouble was detected ahead when a scouting UAV was suddenly destroyed by hidden gunfire. Rather than proceed into an obvious ambush, a circuitous route was chosen towards the north, so that Georgetown could be approached from the east rather than the south.

The vehicles pressed on through the jungle roads, including a hamlet that was totally devoid of life. After hitting the main road, things seemed good, until a jeep crashed into the convoy and opened-fire. They were quickly taken care of, but a search of their bodies revealed that orders had been given by Syndikat to find the Gendarmes. Although they had bypassed the main amush, there were now mobile patrols looking for them.

The escorts took back to the main road, using side-roads where possible to bypass settlements that could be used as ambush points, until they met the main road leading to Georgetown - and then floored it. Two separate enemy checkpoints were encountered, but a combination of flanking tactics and some timely grenades took them out. The Gendarmes also recovered a useful RPG launcher.

Making it safely to Georgetown, the prisoner was handed over - only slightly the worse for wear after having to restrained by Private Starchy numerous times, after failed escape attempts - and the Gendarmes were congratulated
by HQ for a job well done.

Highlights: The Larpo for excellent commanding of the operation and Starchy for providing heavy cover fire when needed.
