ABOUT Call of Duty 7: Black Ops

http://www.COD-BO.net is a community/fan-site for the latest title in the Call of Duty series: Black Ops. We are made up of avid gamers, to bring you the latest news on the development of the game and to speculate with the information we have been given. We are not a part of Treyarch or Activision.

Call of Duty: Black Ops is scheduled for release in November 2010 and sources indicate that it will be set between World War II and the present day. It has also been speculated that some of the missions will take place in Cuba and South America, which could mean a Cold War and Vietnam based game.

For PC gamers, the game will contain dedicated servers, unlike Modern Warfare 2. The lack of dedicated servers in Modern Warfare 2 was one of the main complaints from PC gamers.

Players will also be able to play as a member of the Special Air Service (SAS) in the hostage taking in the Iranian embassy during the 1980s. It is also rumoured that the game will contain a “Zombie Mode”, seen in Call of Duty: World at War with “Nazi Zombies”.

No Dedicated servers for consoles?

Treyarch has detailed their intentions for Call of Duty: Black Ops' multiplayer. Although dedicated servers are unlikely to make their way into the console versions, the developer is hard at work on matchmaking.

In response to a Black Ops wish list from YouTube user Blame Truth, Treyarch multiplayer design director David Vonderhaar ("Vahn") has detailed the studio's views on a number of raised issues.

There have been numerous complaints about Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer, such as its dodgy peer-to-peer matchmaking. EA's Battlefield Bad Company 2 solves such woes with dedicated servers, but so far Activision has been reluctant to match this with Call of Duty.

This isn't going to change any time soon as far as the console versions are concerned. However, as previously reported, PC gamers can breathe easy. Dedicated servers will make their return with Black Ops. On this issue Vohn writes:
