I am trying to play with a friend, do I need 2 controllers, or can I use a controller and a keyboard / mouse?

the first thing i would like to say is i love this game the problem i have is i use ps2 controllers and they have no input with the game so i can't play with my friends please add a full controller customization or something i REALLY want to play this with my friends...
