A basic horror game that still managed to be enjoyable.
Simple little story with an interesting detail in the end.
It managed to scare me good, keep me sweating during its whole short duration.
Really not bad!

As a garden gnome working in a persistently changing education system, safeguarding tends to be a priority.

Why? Because there are plenty of children out there that are failed by a system that's supposed to work for their future. Compassion and empathy aren't "desirable", they're a necessity.

Gore in Crayon represents what goes on at a young girl's house when her parents had a domestic that ended extremely badly, and the resulting psychosis of the alcoholic mother.

The game is visceral, brutal, but short. Animated in a simple animation style with a "crayon-like" art style, your job - playing as the young girl - is simply to go to bed, only to wake up to the sound of your drunk mother losing her mind and making a choice that could result in the young girl's tragic fate being met much sooner than later.

Simple sound design, simple art, small game, telling a gruesome story that -- while the end might not be realistic, and the game is at the very *edge* of extreme -- might not be too far off from what some children go through.

So, trigger warnings abound, but if you're looking for something short, dark, and grisly, give it a try. I would say a couple issues I encountered were:
1) The game is meant to be played in one run, so while there are checkpoints, there's no pause menu, you press esc and it just exits the game. Keep that in mind for things.
2) The latter part of the game which is largely cat and mouse is a game of patience, and there's a very good guide made by one player, but honestly, a lot of trying to go through doors can seem a little confusing at times, and that can mean life or death.
