I have to give this a thumbs down because of a very stupid thing:
To access the post game content you have to NOT collect an item. Collecting this item will brick your save and make you unable to access said post game content. If not for this singular thing that there is zero indication of -- in fact you're told to collect it several times -- I'd give it a thumbs up but this left such a bad impression on me that I can't do so.

Long fan of Final Fantasy V, I tried searching, and searching THE game that would capture its feeling. Dungeon Antiqua 2 is the one that ALMOST capture it (well, look at the graphics and soundfont, and job stuff).

It has many good points. The classes are easier to reach at the final level in early gameplay (notably archery). You can use also books or items as way to fight. I think its biggest quality comes from the fluidity of battle, they are really quick and at least it allows us to go heal after the battle ended (configurable too! Rare in these type of games). It has for 10h of gameplay, which is actually short for a JRPG (even dungeon crawler).

While I'm puting a "recommended" opinion, this is for the developers of the game, not the actual players. The game is capturing the feeling perfectly well and the gameplay is nice. But I'll say what is to fix absolutely, as this game is in EARLY ACCESS (I think?):

-~10 jobs is too few. The miss of variety feels being the biggest flaw of this game. Also shuriken are not yet present so Ninja has not his actual potential
-Some enemies are extremely easy to kill, other takes many turns. Especially in end of game.
-Late game, it feels like there's no way to grind the jobs, so a 100% completionist might feel bad to pass so many hours farming the same enemies. (In the Sealed Castle, there was a way to farm with the dragons, but the devs put a limit of dragons we can kill. Meh.)
-The end game dungeon crumbles after defeating the final boss, and so in the future, if there will be a bestiary, these creatures in will be LOST FOREVER. It would be good to find them a new home.
-Haste doesn't work. I can have haste and slow down the enemies, they'll usually always attack first for some reasons that I ignore (Priority of attacks?)
-Also the story is very blend. I don't know if it'll continue to go this way in the serie, but it's pretty disappointing, to see the gameplay really take over it.
-Soundfont is directly taken from Final Fantasy IV / V / VI. That's a bit too "nostalgia bait" and don't make Dungeon Antiqua 2 feels unique in its own way. Too bad!
-Finally, I'd like more books / spells, such as shield (improving magic defense). I also feel protection doesn't give a huge boost of defense, I feel having nearly the same stat of defense, so it isn't really good.

Started me off with a hero randomly named BARBARA. Game of the year.

In all honesty though this game is extremely fun and really easy to get into. A job system like FF5 (less complicated but not in a bad way) with turn-based rounds like FF1. A home area to handle shopping, healing, and job changes, and then the rest is some very fun dungeon crawling. I'm having a delightful time and am excited to keep playing.

EDIT: As of this writing, Steam has not verified Steam Deck compatibility - it has run flawlessly for me.
