Simple story, cool gameplay, not too hard. Amazing grahics and soundrtrack

To start this heartfelt review, I must share that I am someone who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of video games and I can without doubt say that the Ori franchise has completely stolen my heart.

There are games that impress with their mechanics or their visuals, but Ori does something truly astonishing. From the very first moment I stepped into the breathtaking world, I felt like I was in the presence of something extraordinary. The art is not just beautiful—it’s transcendent. The flow of the gameplay is seamless, and each challenge feels rewarding in ways few games manage to achieve. But what truly sets Ori apart, above everything else, is its story.

The emotional depth of these games is unlike anything I've ever encountered. Will of the Wisps took everything I loved about the first game and pushed it further, deepening the world of these creatures and their struggles. It’s not just a tale of adventure or survival.. it’s a story about hope, loss, and finding strength in the darkest of times. There were moments in the game where I was brought to tears, not because of a grand plot twist or a tragic death, but because of the quiet, tender moments that speak to something deeply human within all of us.

Playing through the Ori games has been a journey… one that I’ll surely never forget. I’m not exaggerating when I say this franchise is now firmly in my top three of all time. It’s hard to put into words just how much this game means to me. It’s more than just a game; it’s a reflection of what it means to persevere, to face adversity, and to grow. And as cheesy as it may sound, it’s made me a better person, reminding me of the importance of empathy and the beauty of persistence.

I feel so incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to experience this world, to be part of the journey that Moon Studios crafted with such care and love. Thank you, Moon Studios, for creating something that’s not just a game, but a masterpiece. Your work has made a profound impact on me, and for that, I will be forever grateful.

What an amazing game ! I'm usually not fond of platformers but this one mixed with the story and the abilities made it really really fun ! (spoilers ahead)

-The story is truly amazing, I also love when a story that takes a sad turn/with a bad ending (technically not too bad of an ending but still R.I.P the dark owl)

-At first, the game feels a bit slow with not much room for creativity until you start getting abilities and the game gets really satisfaying to play ! There are some areas or movements that Ori has that are a little bit frustrating and feels rough sometimes, and personally I feel like at the end of the game there are way too many abilities with way too many combos of keys, so I was getting mixed up a lot, but nonetheless it was very amusing !

-I also adore the fact that there are secrets/places on the map you have to go back to with your new abilities to unlock stuff and get more points, I love backtracking this way hehe

-The soundtrack and graphics are both fantastic, I had a blast the whole way through this journey, especially the "running" sequences after getting each element^^

-And finally, the combat is really fun to play, the ability to use the bullets of the enemies adds a new layer of dynamism to the game, makes fighting creatures very unique :3

I heavily recommend the game if you enjoy even just a little bit platformer games, because you will probably be surprised with all the content surrounding it !

Brilliantly frustrating as well a visual and emotional storyline masterclass.

Game looks nice and when it works it's great, but some mechanics don't work well, which makes for some obstacles to be pixel perfect or you fail and have to restart a section. Just watch a playthrough if you're on the fence about it.

I can’t go any higher than that. It’s an extremely beautiful game, with a surprisingly touching story given that there is no dialogue. But when the button combos start getting hectic, it all completely falls apart. Insanely unresponsive, and probably one of the worst metroidvania experiences you can have from that point on. This happens a lot with these games, however, and I got a solid few hours of fun out of it before hitting my breaking point.

Ori and the Blind Forest first grabs your attention with it's gorgeous, Vanillaware inspired visuals but fails to match them in terms of actual game design. Titular Ori is one of the worst feeling characters to control, with my first thoughts at the time of playing being: "This has to be the worst jump mechanic in the history of metroidvanias". After that, it was letdown after letdown: basic combat is an auto-targetting, spammy lightshow that will put clicker games to shame; level design and platforming difficulty are all over the place, and it looks to me like the devs were aware of it too, giving you the ability to make a checkpoint anywhere, because it would be too much trouble to actually plan for checkpoints and autosaves themselves. The story is written with the finesse of an amateur writer and the actual plot is infantile at best, boiling down to: BIRD BAD, REVENGE BAD. BIRD NOT ACTUALLY BAD, EVERYONE IS FRIENDS IN THE END. Look, if you ask me, that tree is the actual villain, and it got away with it, too. . Also, after seeing the "Great Soundtrack" tag on the Steam page, I have to say that the score is well-made, but utterly forgettable, string-instrument-heavy sapfest.
This is easily one of the most overhyped games I've played in recent years and I have completed it purely out of spite.
