Barrelroll has easily become one of my favorite turn-based combat games. After trying the demo, I couldn't resist the urge and bought the full game for a ridiculously low price.

It's a game that oozes charisma and personality from every pore, with an utterly charming and colorful presentation that stands out in every aspect and doesn't hide its inspirations, from the interface to the music, sound effects, character designs, and the clear and obvious references in every corner.

Despite its relatively simple presentation, the game hides a captivating strategic depth with all sorts of synergies and variations, which provide a satisfying challenge, especially when you start considering the higher difficulty levels and optional missions that force you to play in different ways. It's not just the effort required to overcome them that's rewarding, but also the sheer satisfaction of discovering the most powerful combinations. There's something magical about defeating entire groups of enemies without them even getting a single turn...

It's a highly recommended purchase, one of the best and most underrated games of this year, and one of the biggest surprises for me. I can't recommend it enough.
