does using a memory pearl to lock trends use the pearl?

I have 2 memory pearls, they are very rare. So I don't want to expend them recklessly. But does using them to lock a trend in place (so you can try for better sets) actually use them up? or can I unequip them from that locked slot later?

since last patch the wolf charged skill is bugged, after he heal some %damage, if you cant kill it on next round, it will fully heal itself? wtf
