I bought this after playing the sequel. I read that you gain respect when shooting enemies around npcs. I actually prefer going melee. Do I gain respect when I kill zombies in melee or do I need to use guns to gain respect?

I saw people saying it's literally State of Decay, but more involved, with more depth. Is this true? I love SOD, although I also think SOD1 was awfully glitchy and shallow, and SOD2 was only good after years of patches tbh. I got burned recently with Last Hope Bunker. It was very cheap, and very bad/repetitive/shallow. Refunded. This game looks similar to that, but hugely positive opinion of players. Is it that good? It's damn cheap too. Pretty much just looking for a few people to tell me its worth...
