I've played Medieval Dynasty, Bellwright, Farthest Frontier, Manor Lords and Saelig trying to scratch my itch for a medieval builder. This game is IT for me! The tutorial has been an absolute joy!!

First I started Kingdom mode so I could get going.. figured well I enjoy a lot of building games I've got this. Went to the first ruin I saw and well.. bandits.. ran to a hill.. meanwhile I had a voice over reading off a letter to me explaining all the lands around me. This was so awesome and immersive! I made my way up a hill. (I'd love to set up a keep atop a hill, which is something I cannot do in most builders) I started my building. Made myself a home, a logging hut (prefab) and a regular house (prefab) just to explore the systems the game offers. I realized I didn't know how to recruit anyone. I saved and exited to menu.

Now the tutorial. Holy hell was this the best tutorial I've experienced in a game thus far. It's fully voiced and interactive. You have an ai who comments as you do things and follows you around. The landscape is beautiful on both maps.. first thing I noticed but failed to mention before. So I start the process of learning how to do things. I've had to do things such as replace the lumber operator to chop a tree and learn how the lumberyard works. Then sent a npc to work it. Built a storage house and met the desired decoration demand. (Which is something I love!! Decorations are not locked behind grinding endlessly for money to unlock.. Medieval Dynasty I'm looking at you.....) I've had to build homes, repair a church and get it functioning. The fishing was cool to see a jetty in use! All in all I cannot believe how great this game is.

I'm only 3 hours in and still in the tutorial phase but this game has exceeded my expectations due to the negative reviews. I really hope the developers realize the jewel they have created and don't lose hope. Does there need to be polish and systems added in.. yeah.. it's early access and I'm sure there's a roadmap for that. I would love to see it. However for what I want in a game, which is to build and design and chill.. this is it. I've got a pretty beast computer so I might not see the performance issues others have so I cannot really tell you if there are issues in this department. I will say I saw a review posted Jan 2nd complaining about no tutorial. That was a flat lie... I've enjoyed the tutorial very much! Idk why people are not capable of exploring a game proper before giving out false information in a review. However, yes, there is a tutorial and Kingdom mode that I've experienced so far. Later tonight I'll try out multiplayer as I'm excited to have friends join me. I'll update my experience as needed.

The resources suck atleast the later ones how to get it no clear explanation on how to get what. Game poorly managed

Now just to be clear i am having the major lag issue too, but i have seen responses from the devs saying they are going to hopefully fixing it this week. Considering how much i was enjoying it before the leg hit, i will give them a chance to sort it out, hence the positive review at this time (it can and will change if not addressed)

This is clearly early early access, but there is a lot to enjoy at present, the building system and selling goods at the market stall. Love the prefabs and the "mods" workshop being just peoples prefabs they came up with is really helpful to save time. In all survival games i always get a bit of a building itch, where i have to try all sorts of random silly designs, or crazy huge buildings, unfortunately at present the memory leak issue lagging the game is getting in the way, but i'm very much looking forward to going full mad scientist with builds when its fixed.

Aside from the lag issue another main issue is the aggressive npc's, seemingly guard duty npc's just run away and you're left to deal with them yourself, which is fine, but there needs to be some early game armors as they do some crazy damage, got hit twice by an archer, first shot did barely anything, next shot i was dead... their target tracking is a touch op as well. Dodging the incoming arrows even when seeing them is just not happening lol

TLDR i see recent reviews as mixed, and as a long time early access diver i see it so often, games get judged on being unfinished and in development, but early access has brought us some amazing titles that otherwise wouldn't exist. So i'd honestly say give this one a chance, seeing devs actively answering and reading through the community hub to me is a great sign, so many just don't interact, and just do random little updates with no heads up and no inference that they are paying any attention. fingers crossed for this one, as it looks like it could turn out amazing.
