v1.0.1 (Bug Fixes and Quality of Life Update)

This update mostly affects the free roam office map, but some other maps have been modified as well.
Your old saves should work. (If you get stuck in an object, you can always Toggle Flight your way out.)

Your current game settings might get reset in this patch due to me removing the configuration file from the default installation. (I did not have this issue when testing.) If you lose your settings now, it should not happen again in the future, as the game should not track it as a file to be updated anymore. I apologize for any inconvenience there.

Map Changes (Slight spoilers):

- office_explore (Free-roam office map)
Reworked entrance to videogame ending and office complex garage to require a keycard. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but it is for the best to encourage players to seek other endings first.
Fixed some broken environment (specular) mapping.
Smoothed the lighting in the SmoothWave Game Studio office.
Added soda can and dialogue to stairwell drink machine.
Added some more objects and messages.
Reworked videogame ending entrance sequence to reduce player confusion and physics bugs.
- factory02 (Intro factory segment)
Removed duplicate point_message text from a security camera.
Moved some text associated with a certain sentient wall panel closer to player to be more visible.
- ending06 (Video game / platformer ending)
Added an optional skip ending feature after every 30 deaths. You are not required to use this, but it will keep coming back every 30 deaths until 150 deaths, at which point, it is assumed that you want to finish the ending.
Fixed a bug where your afterlife progress save data would get erased upon entering the videogame.
- ending04 (Chase ending)
Added music to chase sequence. (In The Cleaning Game Soundtrack listed as "The Chase" and "Defeat".)
Added shorter fade out time to hardware room to avoid player confusion. More time is granted when listening to security camera in hardware room.
Fixed a bug where spatial dialogue text might have shown through the end credits.
- ending01_offices (After lava pit and before chase ending)
Added keycard interactions to keycard locks.
Increased ambient lighting in side area behind glass door.

Texture Changes:
- Lee Fuller has been added to the credits as a playtester.
- Some signage has been reworded to aid in reading comprehension.
- New poster has been added to videogame / platformer ending shed. (In part to warn players of Rainbow Land's difficulty.)

Model Changes:
- Fixed broken corkboard in office_explore.

Cloud Saves Enabled

The Cleaning Game now has automatically enabled support for synchronizing saves across your Steam account. (This automatic synchronization only applies to any files within /cleaninggame/SAVE. Your local screenshots are not affected by this and are handled separately by Steam in the Recordings and Screenshots menu.)

If you wish to not backup your saves to your Steam Account, you may always turn off the Steam Cloud in Steam Settings (top navigation bar in the Steam Client) -> Cloud -> Enable Cloud.

it feels like this game wants me to be frustrated by it, the roblox obby being the prime example. if i didn't cheat it would have probably taken an entire hour to get 75% of the way through. which as it turns out is all the way through.. you don't even get to finish it lmao. the text from the computers around you is also hard to read on high resolutions, and the excuse that this is a vgui limitation can't be used because that text could have been implemented in a better way. anyway i commend the developer for making a game that's uniquely painful to play yet kept me invested for a few hours, and ill probably come back to it at some point

speaking of the text, this game is trying to say something about ai, and i think it comes closest to saying something meaningful when the one computer in the office talks about people's overreliance on it. unfortunately i didn't really get much else of a message, it seems like half this game is actually trying to say something and half of it is a 💩post that's trying to get cheap laughs or torture the player

imo the game is at its best when the player is in the office cleaning, and its literally in the title because the dev knows this. they don't know how to make levels that direct the player without signposts ("yellow paint") like indicators of what to pick up, and in the side levels there frequently are not indicators that tell the player where to go. i got stuck several times outside the cleaning office, and with better lighting and prop placement i wouldn't have

as for the soundtrack, some of the songs are decent, but some are not, and the decent ones feel like they don't fit the tone of the mod most of the time

total conversion mods are pretty cool though! love to see it, even if it is this. the dev is very talented and for a mod made by one person it's decently impressive

Let me start this off by saying, if you want too, play this game! It’s short enough to warrant your time and it’s free! But I do wanna get into pros and cons.

Pros:

This game is made in Source, which is quite the achievement! But it also means this game can be easily modded which most games nowadays is harder to do.
This game is made seemingly completely with “brushwork” models, which simply means it wasn’t made in a software like blender, but made with world geometry, which I find cool because it’s something I’d totally do when making a game because it’s so much easier than blender, so seeing a game pull off the style is really neat!
This game seems to have a lot of attention to detail, many off the computers around the office have something to say to you making cleaning the space fun to read everything, it seems there’s also many endings (some I haven’t even found yet) there also seems to be random events that can happen day 2, which adds some replay ability.
Something about seeing this mod hardly change its UI from Portal 2’s makes me really happy, and will probably make you all very nostalgic, because this mod was made from Portal 2’s engine so they hardly modified the UI, which is typical a bad thing but I find it really neat!

Cons
Finding the endings are a bit confusing, like I said I’ve only got some and I am lost. Since I’m writing this early after release there’s no guides or anything
There’s no achievements, they should be easy to add but the dev said he didn’t know where, I say add some after each ending and for some of the secrets, add some more relatability why not!
There’s no voice acting, it’s a small thing but I think the game would be so much better with voices, not all the computers but just the important ones.
You need to own portal 2 to play, this obviously isn’t the devs fault but they should really try to get it waved since this game shares hardly any relevance to Portal 2.
Since the game is in such a mod-able engine I feel they should be more modding friendly, like open up the workshop for custom hammer built maps, and include some instances and VMF’s, it will help the game last longer.

Intriguing adventure. Reminds me of the Stanley parable a bit. I've encountered a few minor bugs. 1. "Say Hello! :D" does not work, because of "Unknown command: ask_for_help". Don't know, if it has any impact on the gameplay. 2. Screen keeps blinking while in the "AEI's Security Center". The period of blinking corresponds to the period of refreshing of two screens near the ceiling. I guess it has something to do with them. 3. When you got locked in the room with the broken hardware, neither "game over" ha...
