Not recommended. The reason isn't the game's quality, but rather its permissive and condoning of malicious modding.

As a Steam game, its modding ecosystem has witnessed extremely egregious behavior that violates basic community consensus:

Some modders have secretly embedded blacklist mechanisms in their mods, checking players' Steam IDs upon entry and forcibly exiting the game if a player is blacklisted, without any warning or notification.

This is no longer just a matter of "the author's personal temperament," but rather substantial malicious code behavior.

Even more absurd is the complete lack of transparency and extreme arbitrariness in triggering this blacklist:

Players who simply provided normal bug reports in the comments section, without any offensive language, were annoyed and added to the blacklist by the author.

After the source code was exposed by the community, the author:

Publicly admitted the existence of this feature

Insisted that they "had no problems"

Officially attacked players who raised questions

Members of their small group even publicly insulted players and threatened to upload virus-laden mods to the Steam Workshop in the future

These statements and actions are all publicly documented.

Even more disappointing is the official attitude.

In other games (such as RimWorld), the official team has directly intervened and removed similar malicious mods. However, in this game, after contacting the official team, players discovered:

The official team treated the mod creator with extreme respect, addressing him as "teacher."

They even gifted the creator some merchandise.

They only offered "suggestions" regarding modifications.

Meanwhile, they told players in the community that "the official team has asked the creator to remove the malicious code."

These inconsistent attitudes are confirmed by chat screenshots posted by the mod creator himself, who couldn't stand it anymore.

In short:

If you plan to buy this game, please understand:

You are not only buying the game itself, but also implicitly accepting an ecosystem where the official team chooses to condone malicious mod behavior.

If you care about:

Players' most basic right to use the game

The transparency and security of mods

Whether the official team truly stands with the players

Then please think carefully before purchasing.

Ignore the bad reviews. Its just a bunch of people butthurt about the devs making a bad judgment call and didnt delete a bad mod quick enough. A mod that isnt in the base game. A mod that the devs did not create. A mod you have to download yourself for it to affect you.


Give the devs some backlash for not ban the mod right away, sure, i get that.. But ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, yall are making a mountain out of a mole hill. Tanking the review score from OP to VP/MN over a mod that NOT IN THE ACTUAL GAME is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wild work.

It was a good game, until it is not.

Developers were supporting mod creators that injected malicious code into their mods to control who can play the games and who can't. The developers even mentioned the player who discovered this was malicious instead of the mod creator. So basically they think we have to bow and knee to them to play their games.

I wish I can refund. In fact, for the game that supports malicious mods, I believe we should ask Steam support to check if the developers have placed some malicious code themselves into the game and use this as a reason to refund the game. I will try to see if it works.
