Community Update #7 - Theresa's garage, forest overgrowth and demo update!

Hi everyone 👋

We're back with another community update, shining a light at new content we've been adding to Truckful. Buckle up and let's go!

Theresa's Garage

Introduced in our recent community update, Theresa is a mechanic who owns a garage located on the outskirts of the town. She is very helpful and caring, always making sure your pickup truck works as intended, offering upgrades, vehicle customisations and more. Meet Theresa! 👋👵

Here is a first look at the Garage aka Repair Shop - with a wide roundabout and just enough space to drive and park easily. Once parked, players will be able to pack, customise and upgrade the pickup truck with different equipment, paint types, customised body and additional ornaments like stickers, hood figurines etc.

Forest overgrowth

The Forest has many mysteries and we're excited to reveal another 'threat' that awaits you there. Apart from its original antagonists like The Ghost Truck, players will encounter environmental adversities such as forest overgrowth.

Once our pickup truck is powerful enough to explore the overgrowth it will be able to climb the entangled branches that lead to new locations, shortcuts and places of supernatural origin. We'd *love* to share more details on its lore but also don't want to spoil all the exciting exploration that awaits players on the higher levels of these supernatural creations.

'Its origin remains unknown and its roots go deep into the fabric of the forest. Nobody knows where the gigantic branches lead and it requires a very skilled explorer to unravel its mystery.'

Demo update

First of all, we need to thank everyone expressing their interest in Truckful's demo - we appreciate it greatly! Knowing how important a high quality demo is these days, we're making sure you get a polished first experience with our game.

Right now, we're happy with demo's content and playtime, focusing on populating the world with more environment details, updated user interface and a bunch of quality-of-life features. Current ETA is this year's early summer and we will make sure to let you know once ready!

Community Update #6 - The Ghost Truck is here!

Hi everyone 👋

In the last community update, we teased one of Truckful's main antagonists - the mysterious, terrifying Ghost Truck roaming the countryside at night. Today, we'd like to showcase it a bit more - with early concept arts, models and some new gameplay. Let's go!

Early concepts & truck models

We had truckloads of fun playing with some early concept designs for the 'evil truck'. One of our inspirations was a 1971 movie called Duel, made by Steven Spielberg. The 'enemy' in this movie, was a big, rusty and scary Peterbilt truck. What struck us the most was that you could never see who is behind the wheel and found this idea very interesting - perfect for Truckful's ghost truck idea.

We wanted to make it look grim, rusty and almost bunker-like with little space left for windows. We also added a chain with a hook and curled it around the front bumper that resembles a winch, giving the Ghost Truck some 'teeth'.

Ghost Truck's disturbing presence

Encounters with the Ghost Truck won't be limited to duels and boss fights. While driving and delivering cargo, players will occassionally bump into wreckages, peculiar forest growth and other disturbing signs of its dark presence. All these elements found during exploration will paint a better picture of the game world, story and most importantly - Ghost Truck's true origin.

Ghost Truck chase gameplay

The Ghost Truck, once encountered, will aggressively chase you around the forest, trying to break your pickup truck and make you loose cargo. First thing players will notice is the sound - giving goosebumps, sounding like a freight truck or even worse.. a huge container ship! Terrifying sounds will be followed by grim red lights, which indicate to push the pedal to the metal and try to avoid this evil rusty demon.

Community Update #5 - New Year in the top gear!

Hi everyone 👋

Happy New Year! We hope you celebrated Christmas and New Year's Eve with family and friends surrounded by truckloads of fun. We're back on the trail and start 2025 on the high gear on Truckful and in this community update, we're sharing some recent milestones and gameplay updates. Buckle up and let's go!

Ghost Truck

We've been working on Truckful's first antagonist - the mysterious big, scary truck haunting the countryside during the night, affecting the small town residents who tremble with fear hearing all the stories. While roaming the countryside, players will learn more about its origins and true nature, eventually having to face this steel monster. Here is the first look at its grim silhouette:

" - What hits you first is the smell. The smell of burning rusted metal and oil. Before you know it, you can't see anything... and then that noise! It's a horn, but it sounds more like a city siren, yet here, in the forest? I ran as fast as I could. Others mention corroding rust that poisons the crops and plants, leaving forest paths stinking of decay. Some drivers also go missing." - says Theresa, The Mechanic working in the nearby Workshop.

Checkpoint Shrines

We've been working on a checkpoint system that would automatically save your progress during important game moments and came up with charming shrines - ones that resemble small town roadside altars. For example - once you conquer a steep hill or any other demanding section fully loaded with cargo, you might want to *phew* for a second, making sure the hardest part is done before finally delivering the cargo to the recipent.

We plan on having a variety of shrines scattered aroung the countryside with different night/day variations, below you can see an example 👇

Last but not least - we closed 2024 on a high note, reaching net 25 000 wishlists on Steam (now at +26k!) and would like to thank you - each and everyone! Your interest, feedback, gameplay ideas and overall support means the absolute world to us at MythicOwl and we continue working on Truckful more motivated than ever! 🙏

We will be sharing more gameplay updates in the upcoming weeks. We're also working on a heavily requested demo but have no projected timeframe for public testing yet. Once ready, will surely let you - our Steam Community - know first!

Steam Deck Compatibility Info

Hey everyone! Truckful's announcement is now public and we receive lots of questions about if and how the game will run on Steam Deck. Good news - we're on the right track (pun intended!) to get Truckful verified and have our pickup truck adventure run in stable 60fps on highest settings. Will there be a playable Demo?

Hi there, I absolutely *loved* the trailer and genuinely cannot wait to get my hands on this game. I also love demos - are there any plans to make a demo available for the public to play before releasing the game? :) Cheers & good luck on the continued development. I think you guys are onto something and I genuinely cannot wait to play....

Ideas and thoughts for the Developer

Hi The game is really great! And the ideas are great. But I also have a few ideas 1. the truck has a horn to scare away sheep so how about a winch to pull away fallen trees. It would also be great if the truck were to break down due to flat tires, engine overheating or lamp failure, etc. A refueling system would be a good addition. And that you can equip your truck with extra light, fuel crackler, spare tire or toolbox. (like in “Snowrunner”) 2. the tracks When you plan the route you can choose ...
