Day 1 - Small Update v0.5.1

The way you've been slaying Goblins has impressed us. We found a few small issues that we are releasing a update for. If you are having trouble connecting in multiplayer, make sure everyone has updated their game to the latest version v0.5.1.

Fixed an issue with controller input icons not appearing on HUD when using a controller on PC or playing on Steam Deck.
Changed in-game text when starting a run to say "New Run" instead of "New Save/ New File" to avoid confusion.

Two important questions.

1) Does the game have random matchmaking? As in, can I press a button and the game puts me with people I can play with? 2) Does the game have voice chat? Where I can talk into a mic with other players? If not, does it have text chat? I know things like "Discord" exist but I don't want to use that. I want the game to do it for me....

We've had playtesters spend hundreds of hours in the game but as with all game launches, there will be some bugs that have slipped through the cracks. Rest assured, we are monitoring Steam Discussions, Reviews, and Discord for issues that arise so we can identify the biggest issues and get them addressed ASAP.

Not Solo Friendly ATM

having a hard time getting through the second map. 2 major factors ive notice is the scaling. enemies gain more AOE so getting swarmed means pretty much instant death. the other issue is the timer. its an interesting take from similar titles like Risk of Rain but it puts a major cap on your power up time. instead of RoR style where enemies gradually get stronger, you are just limited on power ups since timer doesn't really give you free rain on that. that means you can't focus on one stat boost, you can'...

Today's post is all about our Early Access Roadmap and what to expect from LORT on launch + beyond. The full image roadmap is below (and is also on our Steam Store page) and then below that we will go into some more detail. Let's dive in.

Launch Content

If you've been playing the LORT Demo (which goes offline on January 16), you'll be pleased to know that was just a taste of what LORT has to offer. We've made a number of changes to the content you played in the Demo PLUS there are 3 new levels, 3 new level bosses, and one epic Final Boss to experience in the release version. The version of LORT we launch in Early Access is fully playable from start to finish with all enemies, levels, and boss fights ready to test your god tier skills. There's also a bunch of weapons, challenges, and free unlockable skins for you to grind as you learn the ways of LORT.

The game is playable on Steam Deck. We are in the review queue with Steam to check our Steam Deck compatibility. The only thing we advise is that if you are playing multiplayer, it is better to have someone who is playing on the best hardware (likely a desktop PC) be the host of the session so you get the best performance. If you have any Steam Deck specific feedback, please send it our way via Steam discussions or Discord.

First Update

You'll see an outline of our planned first update on the Roadmap. Honestly, this is our best guess at what will be in it and when it will drop, but all of that could change based on the feedback we get from you all once we launch LORT. Our hope with everything we do is to exceed expectations both on timing and content, but we feel this is a good foundation of what to expect. We also will likely have some fast updates go live soon after launch to address any major bugs, crashes, or balance issues as well.

The Future of LORT + Beyond

We have a lot of ideas for LORT. A lot. But while we like our ideas, we ultimately want to make what you and the rest of the community want. So we will be waiting, watching, reading, listening, and engaging with the community post release to see what we should bring to LORT. In the 2 years working on this game, we've got it this far. Now, LORT is all of ours and we are going to shape the future together.

And that is a Roadmap. The Roadmap is not final and will change as we adjust our plans based on your feedback.

I don't know why no one is bringing it up, but this game is a lot like Risk of Rain 2 but with more...generosity?

What I mean by generosity is that there is an abundance of chests. In RoR2, without the modifiers, you had to pretty much share the chests with your team to make sure everyone levels up right. In this game there should be zero reason why no one has loot. Enemies will randomly drop loot, many chests around to open and items drop from completing challenges/trials.

You can also "save" your runs. After you complete a quest and return to camp, you can quit the game and it will be saved there. I've only tested this in a 2 man run and it works. Super nice for those of us who don't have an hour+ for a run.
You can also arm yourself with up to 4 weapons. Each weapon has a unique "power attack" tied to them so make sure to experiment. As with buffs/items, same thing as RoR2. Though I haven't played enough to see if there is a limit on how much you can stack of each item.

The game is on a timer via their Day/Night cycle. When it becomes night, gooey forms of the enemies pop out of the ground to harass you constantly. Luckily, night time is very short and you start the next day in no time. On day 2, the price of things go up and the enemies get a teeny bit stronger.

I see a lot of complaints about the movement speed. Yeah, it's slow. So are majority of characters in RoR2 until you start stacking speed buffs. Same applies here. There are also transversal buffs on the map. First level are some glowing flowers that launch you in the air and in the second level there are light post that give you a huge speed rush. I'm sure the other maps have something else.

The game breaks down into this:
Choose your character (only 4 as of now)
Choose a quest
Everyone get on the bus
Start destroying and looting everything (just make sure you do your quest)
Find the boss (If you can't find where the boss is than there is no helping you)
Kill the boss
Win

I've been playing solo and yes, it's a challenge, but so was RoR2 before I understood how everything worked.

If you're cooler than me and this game sounds like what you and 7 other buddies have been looking for than look no further.

A Lot of people seem to expect elden ring lvl quality from a $10 game. it has some rough edges but hey it only cost the same as the price of a Big Mac meal so.

If you have friends then yes it's fun. If you don't have friends you may just want to stick to Risk of Rain or the like. I doubt more than 1% of players can beat this game solo as it stands. THERE IS NO MATCHMAKING SO YOU MUST HAVE FRIENDS THAT PLAY TO GROUP UP OR JOIN A DISCORD. For me as a solo guy I'd say pass or wait.
