The Unleashed Update (Alpha 1.4.0)

Unleashed Form

After fusing 6 cards together across any number of battles, you will be able to enter your unleashed form, which activates a powerful class-specific ability and empowers your fusion cards for 3 turns.

Quality of Life

Changed mana to blue
Updated card design
Added arc to cards in-hand while in battle
Brought back functionality where the map scrolls you automatically to the next node after clearing the current node (and fixed for variable screen sizes)

Gameplay

Removed debuff aspects of runes that had them
Took a first pass at minor rune rebalancing - this will be a more complete effort in the near future
Adjusted likelihood of certain nodes appearing at certain points on the map

UI/UX

Updated settings menu UI to align with ongoing UI updates for more uniformity
Removed blue highlight when hovering a card that can't be interacted with - the new intention is for the blue highlight to indicate the card is interactable or is selected (like when choosing a target in battle)

Bug Fixes

Fixed display issue on some screen sizes with highlighted deck on deck selection screen
Fixed situational crash when player takes status damage
Minor bug fixes with card interactions in-hand
Minor bug fixes with resolving card effects
Minor bug fixes with enemies
Fixed an issue with the hovered tooltip for runes
Fixed a bug where additional effects paired with lethal damage would cause a crash under certain circumstances
Fixed bug where current map progress was erased if you went to the main menu while viewing a node (i.e. while Forgotten Library cards are being shown or Mystic Forge cards are being fused)

Gameplay

Overhauled the UI/UX for the deck selection screen.
The deck you choose now also sets your health and starting gold amount.
Minor updates to the realm selection UX to help align with the new deck selection screen.
Removed Anima as a resource - the intent is for Anima to be repurposed in an upcoming new feature.
Removed blur and motion from the intro logos - it felt unnecessary.
Locked light, ice, and shadow decks for the demo.

Cards

Increased the number of fusion cards - you should never end up with a hand of cards without potential fusion options!
Reduced the number of base cards and simplified their effects. This should allow more room for translating card complexity from base cards to fusion cards, with more predictable outcomes. It is a game about fusing cards together, after all!

New Features

Added preview for fusions to see what your cards will fuse into (if you've created the fusion once before).
Added meta progression for unlocking class cards (Up to level 3 for the demo version).
Added ability to save and continue runs. Runs are automatically saved after each node, and when the player wins or loses a run.
Added Compendium to view known cards, enemies, and runes.

Enhancements

Updated UI for game over screen (experimental)
Improved keyword tooltip behavior
Deck selection now displays class level
Rebalanced starting decks around certain cards that now must be unlocked via level progression

Bug Fixes

Fixed bug where deck was sometimes not clickable from the map
Fixed bug where nodes could be interacted with while deck overlay was visible
Fixed bug where notification would be stuck displaying if it was visible while returning to the main menu

Updated cards

Now that classes are self-contained, there were a number of fusions left on an island that used cards from multiple classes. This has been resolved by updating some fusion materials.
Additionally, some other fusion cards got needed updates, as they either felt unviable, or their fusion result didn't make sense given the fusion materials.

Solar Flare - Fireball + Scorch = Deal 5 damage. Apply 2 burn.
Radiant Ray - Scorch + Burn Up = Apply 2 burn to an enemy. Gain 1 spirit.
Overheat - Burn Up + Burn Up = Discard your hand. Draw a card for each card discarded this way. Gain 1 spirit.
Chilling Foresight - Frozen Spirit + Quick Draw = Gain 1 spirit. Draw 1 card.
Drain - 2 damage -> 3 damage
Nightmare Vision - 2 damage -> 3 damage | 1 health -> 2 health
Soul Drain - 4 damage -> 6 damage
Twilight Eruption - 8 damage -> 7 damage
Purification - 2 health -> 3 health
Shadow Strike - 6 damage -> 7 damage
Vile Strike - 6 damage -> 7 damage
