The bad outweighs the good with this remake.
The original is way cheaper, has better visuals, better sound, better voice acting, a better and more unique atmosphere and less heavy on your hardware. The remake is soulless and devoid of all the personality that made DR1 the special experience that it is and that applies to every aspect imaginable, down to even something as simple as the game's menus.
Everything good about the experience of DRDR (which is a dumb name btw) is owed to the fact that it's Dead Rising 1 again, at which point you're better off playing the original.

Constant crashing. So much so that I cant even get out of the helicopter at the beginning.

UPDATE: So I've had two additional crashes (Again this has all been on the steam deck) Once when drinking the blue juice and when completing a case in the maintenance tunnels involving a truck. This did cause the game to lock up fully and crash. HOWEVER The introduction of the Auto-save feature meant my progress was set back minutes not HOURS like in the original. Would still recommend.

SO I played the demo and the entirety of the full game on the steam deck. It's not only playable, but works perfectly fine bar 1 or 2 audio issues. These issues only occurred twice, once in the safe room during a plot mission and once during the end of Overtime Mode. I played the original back on the Xbox 360 as a kid and remember sicking HUNDREDS of hours into it and this version felt like a faithful update.

The demo is just the XBOX 360 demo so if you just want to see Paradise Plaza and kill zombies, that's free to pick up and show cases the game in a great light.

The full game however has had A LOT of quality of life updates, new camera functionality and updated voices. While the OG Voice of Frank will always hold a soft spot in my heart I can't deny the updated cast bring more depth to the story but also are as goofy and stupid when needed. If you remember the original and want to play a up to date version this is an example of a perfect remaster / remake.

If you have a steam deck this is the perfect pick up and put down game and is also great just to binge on handheld.

DRDR is not a bad game but it's not the great game. Aside from the improved graphics and quality of life changes, most of the new changes take away what made the OG Dead Rising so great. Especially since the 2016 port of Dead Rising is on Steam, I highly recommend first experiencing that instead, then consider this title when it's on sale.

Pros:
+ great graphics running off the RE engine
+ quality of life changes make the game much more accessible to newer players
+ added content from other Capcom games (albeit in DLC)

Cons:
- the blood/violence has been toned down
- the colors of the game are more muted
- you need to be constantly online to play this single player game.
- zombies are noticeably less aggressive in DRDR

the 10 dollar 2016 remake exists sure the AI is better in this but its not worth paying 40 more dollars for it

I actually thoroughly enjoyed my playthrough, I just cannot exactly recommend the state the game is in at the moment. I have a high end computer and I thought it was something on my end, but people with the PC version of this game struggle with not really controllable lag and regular screen tearing regardless of what settings you play on.

If you can play it on something else, i do encourage you to.

I really genuinely enjoyed this game. A faithful reproduction of a game I fell in love with. Really wish T.J. were in it though.

Enjoyable remake, the controls and graphics make it even better.
