I stumbled upon difficulties that prevented me from enjoying the game, I'm sharing this here in case you find it legitimate and potentially want to tweak some stuff : - It seems you can only save on checkpoints/after a bossfight, however the game does save part of your progress regularly, in particular health pickups.
